Ok...

I had a brief second thought about the thread
solely for the fun of the humour above,

so to legitimize it,
asking everyone,
who are your role models and why?

In a Bdsm Thread, with Dommes and subs lurking, hmmmm...
people might say Dita, Elvira (lol!), Jay Wiseman...
Actually much larger - the question is role models for life and living.

One of mine actually is a cartoon :
LoLoL - it's true! - Bugs Bunny.
- Because he always wins,
and with great style: and a smile.

I can't say I have one BDSM role model. I've watched and studied the work of many others whose skills are better than mine, many of it much the chagrin of somebody who enjoys the challenge of creating bondage that is difficult for me to escape. Personally I like the feeling of bondage and am content to remain bound for a while. Escaping, or watching somebody try to escape, is a bonus.

Jay Wiseman's life work is something everyone interested in BDSM should study. He is a little over the top with his message. But if you listen to it and apply it, your play will be a lot safer than one activity that millions of people do every day without a thought - driving to and from work.

Jay's work is partly responsible for my knowledge on how to escape from most bondage. Most of my rigging knowledge comes from a couple of friends who run a bondage website. They have taught me most of what I know about escaping rope bondage. Partly developed out of a necessity because they have a rule that they tie, but they don't untie. But also because they enjoy the game of watching people get out of their bondage.

I'm always learning from the people I chose to play with. Not only have they been play partners, but mentors. Others that I've learned a lot from watching their work include Lew Reubens, the Two Knotty Boys, Jeff Gord, Chanta Rose, James Mogul and Jim Duvall.

Besides the core of her career, every outlandish thing Madonna does/has done is a calculated, intelligent, creative business move.
You certainly don't see Madonna getting the screwed-up lifestyle headlines that bumble-gummers like Brittney Spears does.

Nina's right, she's a Quality success story.
She's savvy, talented and worthy of respect.
Not on my list of top role models, but admirable for sure.

Who's That Girl?
Sing along, now.

For bdsm Women, some admire Midori.
I'm curious about Mae West as a role model.
- (And why when I hear Mae West, do I think of Amelia Earhart? A movie? Not sure).

Mae West (From Wikopedia):
Famous for her bawdy double entendres, West made a name for herself in vaudeville and on the stage in New York before moving to Hollywood to become a comedian, actress and writer in the motion picture industry. One of the most controversial stars of her day, West encountered many problems including censorship.

Quotes:

A dame that knows the ropes isn't likely to get tied up.

I'll try anything once, twice if I like it, three times to make sure.

It is better to be looked over than overlooked.

Those who are easily shocked should be shocked more often.

When I'm good I'm very, very good, but when I'm bad, I'm better.

When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before.

He who hesitates is a damned fool.

I believe in censorship. I made a fortune out of it.

So, have you haven't figured out why she is a role model for me by now...?

Madonna is naturally a VERY dominant self-made woman who commands a serious amount of power..

It takes brains and balls and talent to do that.

xoxo
Nina
About the balls part, please don't ruin my wet dreams.

Miss T,

Thank you for the detail.
And excellent quotes that certainly bring thoughtful admiration,
smirks, grins, and smiles.

I can see why you like her so much!
