Ok my stats come from the offcial stats of CDC below not some amateur journalists from Los Angeles Times.
In 2022 CDC reported a covid mortality rate of 37 in California compared to 34 in Florida. Not only those Covid restrictions did nothing in California but actually their mortality rate was worse than in Florida and John Horgan was just repeating those useless policies . They did nothing in California and don't expect different outcomes here in BC except more people dying from overdoses as side effect of lockdowns under John Horgan watch and probably few other unreported thousands of peiople who died by suicide because they went bankrupt or fired from their jobs because of vaccine mandates.

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/covid19_mortality_final/COVID19.htm
I don't think you know what amateur journalism is, because that doesn't apply to the LA Times. They're among the largest and and most respected journalist organizations in the US. And it's the opposite of amateur. Further, they just report on the findings of others. They're not the ones doing the studies. 🤦‍♂️

Covid was basically over by 2022. Looking at all of the deaths over the course of the pandemic, Florida still had almost twice the number of deaths, per 100,000.

Not really, actually the vaccine mandates haven't been put in place until November -December 2021, so we can see they had no impact , also the harshest lockdowns happened in the first half of 2022 . And even 2021 the mortality rate in California was only slightly lower but not a huge difference compared to Florida.
I'm quoting stats from official health authority website (CDC) not some random site you copied above.

There were covid mandates well before the vaccine even existed. And the harshest lockdowns were at the beginning of the pandemic. I can still remember not leaving the house for much beyond groceries for months at a time. 🤦‍♂️

Regardless, Florida still had almost twice the mortality rate from covid as California did, over the length of the pandemic.

I don't really expect actual science and facts to have any effects on anti-vaxxers though.

Ok let's check your numbers at the official CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/covid19_mortality_final/COVID19.htm
In 2020 the death rate in California was 68 vs 56 in Florida
In 2022 the death rate in California was 37 vs 34 in Florida still higher
- Only in 2021 California did slightly better than Florida 99 vs 111 but still not half as you claimed and overall from 2020 to 2022 Florida did better than California despite not enforcing any restrictions, lockdowns, masks or vaccine mandates.
When you quote stats please check the official website of the relevant authorities not the first random site you click after doing google search. Anyone can build a website and put any number they want

His fact checked comes from random sites, mine come from the official health authority website
I dunno. He cites 6 CDC sources; the same source you are quoting. It seems spurious to me that you are cherry picking facts from the CDC and then disavowing the CDC in 6 summaries that contradict the facts that you are splicing to suit your needs. Kinda like having your cake and eating it too. I’m quite open minded in these matters, but it smells of propaganda….

Unless you can provide evidence that Horgan actually caused deaths in BC because of his vaccine policy (and not superimposing data from a country that had serious breaches in the health-policy data collected), methinks you slander a dead man.

Yours doesn't even come from anywhere but yourself, and your amateur attempts at investigative journalism. 🙄

Scientific, peer reviewed articles aren't just "random sites".

So explain the 6 CDC articles that contradict your claims?

He severely impacted many people's livelihoods by imposing vaccine mandates and ineffective COVID restrictions that did little to curb the spread of the virus. Additionally, he handed over control of the province to an unelected health official, effectively allowing her to govern the province on his behalf during the pandemic. We didn't have a smart politician like DeSantis in Florida, who recognized much earlier than others that the COVID measures were largely ineffective and just political theater.

What a load of horseshit. It did curb it, and was necessary until the vaccine came to turn the tide. Canada was far better of than clownland which saw a million die across their whole country (Canada had 45000 in the same time period), and BC better too than many provinces east of us where their premiers acted like grandstanding buffoons. A virus that was fought by science, and not by the bleatings of a few who were more concerned about preserving money & superstitions than lives.

Click that US map to 2020 or especially 2021, and see which states were really in the deep dark, I dare ya.

Mods! Please do what you do.
Agreed. Separate thread please.

John Horgan, sorry this had to go down on your thread. Although…. You never shied away from a fight like this, and picked a few yourself.

And ya, our top doc also wants the government to supply more free drugs to users??? Seriously, WTF? Shit, there is more shoot-up going down on the streets of Vancouver than the OK Coral. At least Eby saw some sense and said no to the government expanding their role in the drug trade. Rustad was right in calling for her resignation.

Oh woops, John hope your day is going better.

He cites unrelated CDC links, like when someone loses the debate they try to change the topic. The CDC sources I provided show actual numbers of covid death rates by state.

Florida clearly wasn't in deep dark. BC under John Horgan watch was just one of the losers that destroyed their economy with useless restrictions that did nothing to stop the spread of the virus.

Horgan wasn't in power during covid? for the most of it?

if you're going to pretend he was something he wasn't, then fine

he didn't approve of what was going on then, had final say over it

you want to rewrite history to delude, sure, start another thread

One of his most ridiculous policies was to fire non vaccinated BC public service employees who worked 5 days a week from home, had no physical contact with other employees and zero chance of spreading the virus to them. He followed the science he said.
