I just got the news alert from BBC.

Shock, total shock.

I was just listening to his new vinyl at a store on Friday and give him credit for still being an innovator.

A great talent across many fields, performer, actor, writer. A rare genius.
I didn't know he was ill, BBC said he had been fighting cancer for eighteen months.

In Your Wildest Dreams!
The concert that opened BC Place in 1983 was an amazing one; festival seating. The Tubes, Peter Gabriel, and the headliner, David Bowie on the "Let's Dance" tour. What a spectacle. One of the best concerts I ever attended: enjoyed it so much I saw him twice more that year at the Coliseum when they were filming music videos for the tour! David Bowie was a huge part of the sound track of my teens...

I think one of the things I enjoyed about David Bowie's music is how he was able to get a great selection of musicians and singers involved with his projects.

Case in point - Young Americans had some amazing back up singers such as Lisa Fischer and Luther Vandross. Check out Netflix "20 Feet from Stardom" to see that footage. It's a great documentary.

Also bringing in a guitar slinger like Stevie Ray Vaughan on the China Girl LP. I had been listening to Stevie for just a short while when I first heard China Girl and had to check out if Stevie was playing lead on that tune.
