He is Rick Nash's agent..........hmmmmmm

just what we need.
And they need a goalie in a big way. hmmmm?

Schneider for Nash sounds good but did you see how he beat Boston the other day. That could be foreshadowing for the 2012 playoff final as we all know Luongo doesnt have the consistency to get us a cup

To see him on a line with Kesler would be awesome.

Then again, I will put my hand up and state "keep Schneids" we will need him if Luongo goes in a funk - again.

Exactly, think the 'nucks have less than 1 million cap space,if you trade Schneider your only wiping 900 thousand off the cap.
We would also need to replace Schneider with another backup. Or do they put their hopes on Lack or try to find a backup under a million?
So we'd have to move another 2-3 of our better players to make room for Nash's contract. It would need to be something like getting rid of Ballard, Raymond and Manny, just for the room. So to get Nash, we would really lose 3-4 players.

Isnt the big rumour for Perry anyways?

Luongo for Nash. *hehe* Yeah, probably not going to happen. If we were to get Nash, we'd probably have to dump some salary the other way, like Ballard/Booth, etc.

The Corey Perry one is interesting. CoHo, MayRay and Ballard for Perry? Perry would be awesome here, but not sure I'm willing to move Hodgson right now. Sub in Schneids for CoHo, I'd probably do.

Gillis would not be signing a long term contract , he would be offered the opportunity to win a cup as a RENTAL player, for the remainder of the season only.
Who knows what Gillis would have to give , but i,m thinking it would take a goalie and who knows what else , but i think it is a good and doable temporary rental.
He is not skiing....... japadog and meetings .

Probably a more realistic guy we can get is Shane Doan. Don't think Phoneix is going anywhere and I think he's going to be an unrestricted free agent. Wonder what it'd take to get him?

I would mind seeing Nash in a Vancouver jersey. I'm always impressed with him when he plays for Canada. He hasnt looked very impressive vs the Canucks lately. Personally I would make three trades.

Edler plus a 1st & 2nd for Weber. I like Edler, and never want to give up too many picks, but Weber is that good. He's the next Pronger.

Schneider & Schroeder for Elliot and Stewart. I hate to give up Schneider, but don't think Lou is going anywhere. Stewart is like a Bert in his prime or a Lucic. A true power forward. Elliot would make an alright backup.

Ballard & Hanson for Gonchar and Neil. I'm not a huge Gonchar fan but he's an offensive threat and a powerplay specialist. The Canucks could move him at the draft for picks if they wanted too. Neil would look great on the 3rd or 4th line and standing up for our start players. Hanson can skate and is finding his scoring touch, but we've got lots of players like him. We need the size and grit.

Burrows Sedin Sedin
Booth Kesler Stewart
Higgins Hodgson Raymond
Malholtra Lapierre Neil

Weber Bieksa
Hamhuis Salo
Alberts Rome

Luongo
Elliot

=== Pretty sick looking line up.

Your lack of knowledge about salary cap and trade realities in the NHL is pretty typical for the average fan. At least the first trade you want is bascially impossible, unless you are playing NHL 12, and even then, the AI is going to tell you to shove it up your ass. Weber is basically the best defenseman in the game, your market value for him is too low, but the salary cap makes that trade impossible. he makes 7.5 million. Edler makes 3.25. Where you gonna get the cap room?
I agree, all these potential trades for big names......Nash, Weber, Perry, Doan. Won't happen.
Not only is the salary cap a major consideration. So are OTHER TEAMS. 28 other teams in the league. Many able to give much more for players like Weber. Other teams have better draft picks they can trade (remember the Canucks will the 25th-30th pick each round) plus many other teams have cap room. I don't see any major changes. Maybe a depth D-man if Salo is out awhile, maybe some depth at the trade deadline.
But don't expect any huge superstars we can't afford.

Its so much easier to poo poo trades because the cap is just too tough to work around. Sorry look at Philly. Cap trades can and do happen. We have an owner that can and will buy contracts out to make the cap work. You don't think I've put enough in for Weber, sure no problem, make it two 1st rounders and Edler. What I'm saying is Weber is worth whatever they are asking for him.

Good idea in theroy but if you look deeper, I have two problems with your proposal. One, trading for him is the easy part, signing him long-term will be the problem. Nashville could not sign him long term so they signed a 1 year deal worth 7.5M. How much do you think it will take to sign him long term (I am guessing at least 8M). The Nucks have about 9-10M in cap space next season, that's without resigning or replacing any of their UFAs. Two, (I am not saying they are on the same level but) if you look at the stats for Edler and Weber, they are more similar than you would expect. Edler - GP 42 G 6 A 23 T 29 +2 Hits 80 ATOI 23:03, Weber - GP 37 G9 A 21 T 30 +12 Hits 70 ATOI 26:19. Edler is 25, 6ft 3 and 215 lbs while Weber is 26, 6ft 4 and 232lbs. I'll take Edler signed at 3.25M through the 2012-13 season and keep my 2 1st round picks, thank you for playing...

So finish it up. What current roster players do we also get rid of to fit Webers contract in? $4.25 swing. Who do we use to fill in these holes?
