So Rick Nash has made it known with CBJ that he wants out although there are some denials from CBJ management. Rangers seem as always to be in the mix when these trade rumours start up. LA apparently as well as the Canucks too.

Could be interesting to see him in a Canucks jersey for sure but at what cost? He would be a $7.8M Cap hit and CBJ would want equivalent player or players in return.

CBJ need a goalie. I know which one I would keep but whether Gillis has the balls to trade Luongo is another story.

Can't trade Higgins he has been ill for a while. Doubt if Cody Hodgson would be offered since he is just starting to pay dividends for the Canucks. Mason Raymond possibly? Alex Burrows? David Booth?

WE probably need another D man going into the playoffs so I don't see trading one of our D men only forwards.

Would you make this big of a trade going into the playoffs and at what cost?

Still lost in the '60s
Trading Louie would solve the salary cap problem, but there would probably be another riot in the streets.

He has the No Trade Clause unless he approves of the trade. I would bet it would be a three way trade with Luongo going somewhere else and the third team offering up their goalie to CBJ.

HOLY CRAP, do any of you actually do any homework on this issue? The stunning lack of any NHL knowledge whenever this topic comes up is amazing. Once again, Luongo has a no-trade clause. He would have to agree, and do you think he would agree to go to Columbus? NO, he would not. You would not even bring it up with him unless it was a city that was a cup contender or in Florida where his family is because he has the mental strength of a 12 year old girl and once you told him you wanted him gone, he will play like shit for the rest of the season and playoffs if the trade doesn't come off or he says no. This is covered every time canucks trades come up. Maybe learn something?

Next, they have about 2 mil in cap space, not 7. The trade is essentially impossible for the money alone, way too many parts going the other way. We need a strong 3rd liner, not another top centre. We need depth on defense as well. About the only guys they really want to lose or can afford to: Raymond, Ballard, some of the minors guys.

Moving Schnieder is stupid before the playoffs as well, unless the deal is amazing. You need someone you can trust if Lui goes down. There's no other goalie in the league better as a backup, by many miles considered what we pay him. That's the real problem getting someone good for him, his salary alone doesn't give us enough cap room to get anyone decent. If a goalie moves, it will happen after the season is over.
Yah RC we know all that and it does not discourage us from discussing it. Feel free not posting if this causes you this much angst.

The trade deadline is one of the things I look forward to each year. Last year was really a bust and hopefully there are some deals to be made at the deadline. Not much player movement now that the cap is etched in stone and teams are juggling players and dollars constantly.

I was listening to Team 1040 before lunch and they had a guy associated with Nash on and I didn't get his name. He indicated that Nash really only wants to go to a contender and it didn't matter which side of the border either.

Clearly this would have to benefit CBJ equally and they would most likely be after Schneider since their goal tending is suspect. On top of that would probably be another player or two such as Raymond etc

I have learned to love these threads for their entertainment value alone. I mean seriously, what else can you do but laugh your ass off. Armchair QBs and fan boys dreaming about a) getting Nash and b) getting rid of Loooooo, how convenient!? It's going to take a lot more than Raymond, Schnieder and a couple of rejects. Starting price, look no further than what Burke paid for Kessels and Nash is an an upgrade on Kessels.

I am Canadian.
CBJ wouldn't give up Nash and take a goalie (Schneider) and a player such as Hodgson. They have a goalie - Curtis Sanford - who shared duties with Schneider a couple of years ago playing for the Moose. He was as good, or better than Schneider. His GAA is a bit higher now but he plays for a BAAAAD team.

Now if Reggie Houle was CBJ's GM, I bet you could swing a Schnieder, Raymond, one of Ballard/Rome/Alberts and Malhotra for Nash, Samuel Pahlsson and a 1st round pick! :D

I am guessing you are not laughing your ass off now your team is in 12th place in the East and facing not making the playoffs.

1.) This will NEVER HAPPEN
2.) Refer to point #1
I thought I saw a pig flying by.

Seriously though, I don't know why anyone ever suggests it. To make it work, the Nucks would have to dump 3-5 other players to get enough cap room and then find cheap replacements for them. Even with Raymond, Ballard & Schneider, three players that all the armchair GM's keep throwing into the ring, that's $7.6 off the books to add $7.8. That would leave the Nucks with barely $1.0 for a replacement back-up goalie and another defenseman. To bring up Lack and Tanev from the minors, the Nucks would need close to another $1M in cap space.

That's not a move a team that is 1 or 2 role players from the Stanley is going to make.

Unlike some people (yeah I meant you) in this thread, I am realistic when it comes to hockey talk. In fact, in another thread, I stated that I have already given up on the season. So while you keep dreaming about Nash coming to the Nucks, I'll give you some free advice: a) don't hold your breath, b) to get something valuable you have to give up something other than crap you want to get rid of anyway and c) wake up.

Exactly where in my original post did I spout endless enthusiasm about getting Nash? I asked the hockey fans here a question. Presuming its ok to ask a question, I will restate it again.

I want Hedman for Ballard & Schneider, flip Hedman to Nashville for Weber and trade Raymond for Bobby Ryan.
I like these moves ;) a lot but I prefer Perry to Ryan. I take it Weber is only going to be a rental, right? Coz of a little something called the salary cap. Oh wait, out here in hockey LaLa land there is no salary cap.

wilde, I like it better when your team has some hope... I enjoy the banter. I personally don't want Nash here at that price tag but I would love for Gillis to find a way to unload Lou and keep Schneids, at a reasonable, long term price tag. There is one guy I would like to get from your squad and that's PJ Suban....that kid can flat out play. I'm hoping he falls out of favour and the Canadians get stupid and let him go. A guy can dream!
Yeah PK is one of the few bright spots left in this dismal season. But he has to stop with the slew footing BS, he is getting a bit of a reputation amongst the players. I don't think Price and PK are going anywhere, but it won't stop some people from thinking they'll land in Vancouver.;)

On that note, I was offered from merb a Schwartz's Smoked Meat Sandwich and a Pepsi for wilde.

They will throw in an extra kosher pickle on one condition you have to cut with the whiney bullshit for a year even though the Habs will continue to lose into 2013.

I highly doubt the Canucks will get Nash.......and the chances of Vancouver actually getting rid of Luongo are slim to none....and "slim" just got ran over by a bus.

If Vancouver had Kiprusof in net(41 saves last night) well they would have WON the Stanley Cup last year and would WIN it again this year......but sadly Vancouver has Luongo and his boat anchor of a salary that has a no trade clause in the contract.....a slightly important factor gien that there is most likely no team in the NHL that would be stupid enough to pick Luongo up....fortunatly for the Flames that idiot GM Sutter is gone as he might have been stupid enough to do it considering his last trade with the Leafs.

Suck it up buttercups.....you cant get rid of Luongo ;)
