I was having a discussion the other day with a friend about the junk food we used to eat as a kid that they don't seem to make anymore. Here are a few favorites that I can remember:

Wig Wag chocolate bars
Cuban Lunch
Pink Elephant popcorn
Moon candy (Pop Rocks)
Mojo's
Bottle Caps
Pipe cleaners
Toffee (the one in the red package)
Hostess potato chips (BBQ was the best)
Pop Shoppe
Pic a Pop (still available)
RC Cola

I don't care what anyone says, Pop tastes much better in a glass bottle than a can or plastic container. There was nothing better as a kid on a hot sweltering day than an ice cold Mountain Dew or Cream Soda in a glass bottle.

Most cities have one or two places that sell retro candy. I was in one the other day and they even had some other old ones you didn't mention.

Garbage can candy
Gold rush gum-looks like little nuggets and comes in a little cotton bag
Thrill gum-the lable even said "Still tastes like soap"
wax lips

Sweettarts, Double Bubble and Pixie Stix are all still around as well. Hard to find but you do see them every now and then.

Agree! And better when it requires a bottle opener... used to buy cases of mexican coke at Costco in US.. glass bottle and made with real sugar... twice the price, worth every penny!

I liked the gum that came out of tube, almost like toothpaste. From what I know, Cuban Lunch hasn't been made for a few years. Also that taffy, that was in a white package, with the colors of white, pink, and brown

Ummmmm, that recipe while good doesn't come close to the original.Cuban lunch was simply milk chocolate & peanuts poured into red wax paper, wrapped in clear plastic. Lol, i use to beg my parents for a cuban lunch when we went shopping on the weekends & if i was good, i usually got it:clap2: It was made by Paulins in Winnipeg.

I agree with everything on this list!!

A few favorites as a kid included:

Big League chew
Chocolate Icy Squares
That edible paper

but the big one for me was Screwballs Ice Cream. OMG!!!
We bought a strawberry ice cream cake from Safeway before Xmas, and it tasted EXACTLY like those...

Ha ha ha ha chocolate icy squares! you can still get those at Costco sometimes. I use to hate peeling the aluminum foil cus sometimes you wouldn't get it all, then bite into it with one of your fillings!:fear:

That was "sponge toffee" actually...was packaged on clear plastic...about 4 inches square and 1 inch thick and allways one end of it was hard as a rock....you can still get it at specialty british shops...the closest thing I can think of to it is a crunchie bar....but that is covered in chocolate....try it you may like it.

To add to the list...cherry blossom which essentially was a chocolate bar...it was a massive conical hunk of chocolate with a cordial cherry filling made by Lowny...cherry glosettes...same type of thing as the raisin/peanut types but the centres were pretty much turkish delight..pretty much big turk in pebble form...very short lived when I was a kid....roman nougat...pretty much a hard yogurt bar with fruit chunks...I only ever bought one and it was for a person who pranked me when I did a run to the store whilst stoned out of my head,I could not find the fictional chocolate bar as it did not exist so I bought him the thing I thought most disgusting....he ate it to spite me LOL....cherry coke...that stuff was wicked and I dont know why they did away with it.....Astro pops...gone the way of the dodo a long time ago....sour bombs/laffy taffy/bazooka joe gum are also no longer sold.
