After watching this unnecessary ceremony, waste of time before a league game, I actually think there is something more of a joke---is all those pathetic fans at Rogers Arena!

Clapping after every sentence that Mike Gillis completed in his speech? How convenient he didn't mention any playoff success--or lack of.

Again it truly shows how low standards that we have in this city. We get so exited over a dinky individual awards like his Pearson (and look how far we got with that) and same for Sedin sissy for Art Ross last year---again, we won't Gondar in the playoffs.

Just amazes me still how easily canuckleheads get excited yet r the worst hypocritical fans. Esp when nasland acknowledged Dan Cloutier---the same overrated goalie that we make fun of, the famous Lidstrom centre ice goal. And tonite, see the knuckeheads clap in glee. Go figure.

Couldn't this ceremony be done in between games? It's 7:30pm and the Tampa Bay players must be bored silly!

Hurry up Nazzy!

That's what I'm saying. The Canucks should retire the jerseys of those who are HoF material mainly based on their play on the Canucks team. Right now the only Canucks player who even qualifies is Bure. If they are going by fan popularity then they should retire Harold Snepsts' jersey before anyone else.

The Oilers' retired jerseys all belonged to HoF players save for 2 of them.
As for the Habs...they have nearly a 100 years of HoF players, so they really have to pick and choose which number to retire. Otherwise the current players won't have any jersey numbers left to choose!
Totally agree. The Canucks retiring Naslund's jersey would be like the Oilers retiring Doug Weight's or Ryan Smyth's jersey, and that's not going to happen.

If the Canucks ever have a real dynasty, this is going to look like a bit of a joke. They need to set the bar higher.

I don't understand the analogy. I don't recall Weight and Smyth being all-time points, goals etc leaders for the Oilers so I don't see retiring Naslund's jersey as setting the bar low.
