Are there any higher end SPs who don't ask for names / phone numbers in order to book time? Although I appreicate the need for safety, giving out my number isn't exactly what I want to be doing.

Are there any alternatives that maintain safety for SP and anonymity for client?

I personally have a disposal 7-11 phone, and only one person has the number, or knows it exists. And I rarely ever have it in my posession. Unfortunately I learnt this the hard way.

Depending on which carrier you have your regular cell account, it would also work to get a SIM card (separately and still pay-as-you-go) without even bothering with the phone. Easier to keep secret, even fits in a wallet.

I have 3 SIM cards for numbers in different area codes but I don't need all of them all the time so I just switch them around as needed. It's the same as having your phone off; if someone calls, they get your voicemail and you get the alert when you put the SIM in the phone and turn it on.

Just an idea..

Don't you lose all the contacts and history when you change the SIM Card? I don't mess with my main phone, too much important stuff there. I have a cheap pay&talk phone for pooning - I keep the history and contacts clear on that one, if I need a number I look it up on the lady's site.

Not if you save them on the SIM and not the phone itself.

I would just suggest the OP consider what level of sp he is considering here, and stop expecting trouble by using a phone # to book appts. They have good reputations because they are discrete and keep your info confidential. Coming in with a lot of paranoia, before even contacting an sp, is not a good way to start off lol. He also seems to assume he needs to provide his full name, which I don't think is the case, unless he is planning an outcall to him in which case he should be providing the required info. Anything less is sneaky and creepy lol.

Just in response to your response to Miss Bijou's post, why would you care if you lost all the contacts and history if you're deleting this information anyway?

i agree, and then i disagree. things happen that change people, sometimes for the worse

for example, nobody plans on becoming a drug addict, but it happens to good peolple all the time. nobody wakes up in the morning saying i think i will go out and get beaten, raped and robbed today, and it happens rarely, but when it does it changes a person's personality forever. play it safe - get a throwaway phone from 711. you don't need to be creepy or sneaky about it, just maintain a stern discipline with yourself and your identity. sp's don't tell you details of their identity, at least not right away, and they only provide anonymous telephone numbers because they have to for their business, so you should be the same way

I would like to add that if you wish to go down this route, make sure the carrier has a GSM network. If you're on CDMA then you pretty much need to get a disposable phone.
I know what a disposable flashlight is, but what's a disposable phone?

A flashlight is disposable because it comes with a non replacable battery, so once the battery life ends the flashlight is of no use as a light provider, hence disposable. But what makes a cell phone disposable?

low price, no contract, no traceable name or address

if needed it can be abandoned or destroyed at little to no cost to the owner

That's what I was trying to say with my "depending on which carrier" bit but yes, your wording is a lot clearer. Thank you. lol

I think maybe he meant his contacts from his regular line?

i hate to be picky, but a poster should post information that doesn't require the average reader to have wikipedia open on a separate browser window to be able to decipher the acro-jargon

just sayin'... :)

I guess you're the type that doesn't like to learn something new everyday. I'll try to post a wiki link for future reference then.
or you could try writing out the term in full instead of just using the acronym, with a simple explanation of what makes it work or not in certain circumstances

this is usually what people do when they are discussing their field of expertise with others who have different fields of expertise

however, there is a tendency among people to mystify one's own field of expertise, raising it to the level of a secret priesthood, rather than spreading knowledge about it by using clear explanations

Would stating Code Division Multiple Access have made a difference? I think not.

Rogers, Fido, Mobilcity and Wind are GSM aka use SIM cards.

Bell and Telus are primarily CDMA ie do not use SIM Cards. Now I haven't read extensively about their new technology or phones recently; I have noticed they do offer some phones that use a SIM card such as Nokia and iPhone for instance. This is where things get fuzzy.

Eventually all the technologies will merge after the fourth generation of mobile technology. I am in the business and use this URL as a way of keeping up to date with mobile technologies.

Miss Bijou got it correct IMHO. Just get sims or a disposable phone.

Deleting calls received or sent and text messages sent or received is just plain common sense.
