Remote PC administration

Looking for something like PC-Anywhere (which I won't buy or even download for free since its a symantic/norton piece of shit) or Timbuktu to load on to the GF/FB's computer so I can perform remote maintenance, install software, etc. I'm using gotomypc to access my home PC remotely but we're both too cheap to shell out $250/year for another license.

Any suggestions?

Try remote desktop included with Windows XP Pro, easy to use, set-up and it's free. The host PC (the one to be remotely accessed) must have XP Pro and the other PC can be on XP home. If you want to have it both ways then you must have Pro on both PCs.

Thanks for the suggestion but the GF/FB has XP Home......I think I have a OEM version of XP Pro kicking around somewhere and failing any thing else working I'll upgrade her PC

Not so much for this particular application but generally in life I'm a selfish, shallow and soulless sales & marketing kind of weasel....of course I want to have it both ways

Ditto Winvnc now called Realvnc its not feature rich but for simple and straightforward tasks it fits the bill. You can't ask for much more as it's FREE!

All you need is a fresh unpatched install of XP and an unfiltered internet connection.

30 seconds or less til someone has control of your comp.

I use www.logmein.com, works well, there are a few versions, if you are not carefull when you download the software you will get the pro version which has a cost. I am very happy with the free version.
