Heck, I'm bored and hungry. I thought I would start another topic.

I heard there is a place or two? in Vancouver either on Main or Fraser that has cheap Samosa's like 4 for $1. Any one know know which one and have other recommendation on good cheap eats?

Starbucks Credit Card

I just signed up for the Starbucks Credit Card. I only plan on doing 1 purchase and then paying it off...getting the $25 gift card in the mail, then cancelling the card. Basically, $25 free in coffee and food.:D :D :D

Vegetarians - cover your eyes

Memphis Blues Barbeque House - Broadway between Granville and Hemlock or second location on Commercial. $30 platter feeds two people with enough leftovers take home for another big meal or so. The flavours/textures are divine. Ambience is basic and fun, also handy for takeout. Almost as good as flying south.

Surrey

East Indian restaurants in Surrey usually do lunch buffets between $6-8. Best is finding one that also does the dinner buffet.

Barf. Most everyone knows about the fast food chains like MciDees, KFC, and BK.

I hear every now and then some Persian or middle eastern places have cheap pizza and pop like $2.

Down on Broadway, near Heather I think, there is an EI buffet which is not expensive and they do dinner to.

Nobody mentioned River Rock Casino for lunch time buffet? It's not cheap, but not insanely priced either. Anything above $7 for lunch is not what I would consider cheap.

The last time I was at RR it was around $12 or $15 for a lunch buffet. Dinner is pretty much the same but more expensive though. This is actually a bargain, especially since we don't have hardly any western buffets in Vancouver any more. Now, it's mostly Asian.

Typcially, salads, beet salads, potato, etc coleslaw, deserts which are actually pretty good and usually made from scratch, hot food including pork chops or pork roast, white fish or salmon, etc. It's actually quite decent sized. However, don't compare it to any US style buffet or casino. Canadians don't do that, unfortunately.

fast food has become "slow food". Make it yourself for 1/10th the cost in 1/2 the time.

Slow food? 1/2 the time? Not likely. Perhaps you save about 50 or 60% in costs by cooking home at the popular fast food chains. That's why there's such an attracting to fast food places. It's fast and convinent. Faster than making anything at home and no mess. McDonalds often give you 2 for 1 coupons in the mail. That's why people who have limited or low income eat out more and buy cheap food like Macroni and Cheese.

we are all entitled to our opinions. i enjoy controlling what makes it's way into my body and i have found that i can make it faster than they can serve it.

perhaps that just me.

that's fine in posting your opinon. just elaborate (provide some examples) if your'e going to make such claims.

btw, this thread isn't necessarily about eating super healthy, it's about cheap eats that don't include fast food outlets. the fact is that if u eat out, it's rarely healthy as you have no idea what goes in your food.

Chinese Food

Lots of chinese food places are cheap cheap cheap...and some of it is pretty tasty and not too bad for you.

Hon's on Robson is cheap and the chinese food is decent. They have both white man chinese food and the real thing...

I think Soy Chicken or BBQ Pork on rice is around $4.50 for a bowl and $6.50 for a plate.
