i just scrolled the channels on tv and saw this show where some nerdy kid can't climb a rope, and he fails p.e. if he doesn't. by the end he makes it.

I'M FUCKING SURPRISED at the level of physical (or mental) incompetance that's out there because i bet there's alot of people who can't do a single chin up, or a push up, or calculate sales tax.

i worship power, both mental and physical. i dream of my son getting straight A's and playing in the nhl or nfl when he grows up that i can't fathom not pushing yourself to new limits each day, both mentally or physically. it amazes me how we see on tv and real life when people set low limits.

every year people make resolutions in janauary and keep them for about a month. then what happens?

but i suppose i don't have the right to make anybody else's decisions for them.

Welcome to the "New Age"!

The Information age, where we are inundated with data.

No longer do we have time to take in the whole story -
"Time is Money".

We want sound bites, catch phrases & flashy headlines.

No longer do we take time to listen to others stories while sitting on the front porch on a clear summer night under the star's majestic light.

"Time is Money".

We sit on a couch in front of a Cathode Ray Tube or Liquid Crystal Display bathing in the photonic emissions of digital data streaming from all over the world.

"Time is Money".

No longer do we measure success by who we are & what we do in our communities but by the wealth we amass.
We convince ourselves that we are not adequate unless we can keep up with the Jones's.

No longer is there honour in business & loyalty to our employees, because it's a "Dog eat Dog world" out there, we struggle to stay ahead of our competitors & the "Bottom Line" is king.

"Time is Money".

The vernacular of our time includes terms like;
OMFG
TTYL
IMHO
ROFL
LMAO
FWIW
GR8
L8R
THX
WTF
WYWH
& XOXO

"Time is Money".

We have become impersonal & lost the meaning of social in our society.
We build fences to separate us from our neighbours & rarely stop to help when we see others in need because it is not in our "comfort zone".

We trust psychiatrists to tell us how to cope & use nursing homes to care for our elderly, but for the past 2000 years families took care of their own.

"Time is Money".

We have replaced substance with symbolism.

We are but empty shells without that which makes us human & have lost sight of the true purpose of living.

"Time is Money".

At the end of our Time & when we have finally acquired Money, we find it is not the substance of a meaningful Life.

And it is then we realize that - Life is fleeting.

Are these people so fricking lazy they can't take the time to spell out you and are? Can they spell you and are at all? Is this someone anyone would want to spend time with?

not sure if your post was aimed at me, but i'm surprised you forget some of our posts (yours and mine) in the "health and nutrition" threads of the past year. while the vanity flows deep, you should also realize that i beleive that health and body are more important than the clothes you wear. when you build your body you can drape a plain t shirt on yourself and make it look good. the labels are just what one can afford and feel comfortable with. we don't necessarily sit in front of the tv twiddling the game controllers as it's much more fun to go out and throw the ball.

rarely ever do i use the acronyms listed. and one of the biggest lessons i teach my son is that having immense power is great, but it's even greater when you help others, like the neighbor who can't shovel her driveway. btw, my son is 3, so i have a long time to teach him all that. it's fun to run over your opponent when you play hockey, but it doesn't cost us anything to help those who need it, like grandma and grandpa.

so while your cynicism is funny, don't underestimate that when you work hard to get all the fancy toys, it doesn't mean that you step on people to get there. rather i think those that put forth the effort to get ahead are more likely to help their neighbor, be abit more friendly, and give more of themselves because they chose to get off the couch and be something instead of sitting back and just watching something.

Being smarter and faster than an opponent is more important than how strong you are. It only takes 15 lbs of force to break a joint and about 2000lbs to break a bone. Of course I'm biased being 5ft 6in and only weighing 150lbs and I could never do the rope climb even if my life depended on it.

Funny... I'm just over 200lbs & I find it almost as easy to break a bone as a joint.

But then, I used to climb the rope in the military too!

Guess I'm just too dumb to know the difference.

how could people can't climb ropes? it's all about one simple concept.... your legs are as important as your arms.

for all those "l33t" speak, they're useful when you're a slow typer and starting your way out into the worldwide web, but when you're able to type at least 50wpm (slow by most standards), using BRB, AFK, etc is just plain lazy. the exception would probably be LOL, since it's helpful for people to identify jokes, sarcasms and the likes. as my theory goes, eventually people will use acromyns for everything, and it will degrade into pictographs, lol.

i think there was a thread similar to this topic a while back. someone mentioned that people choose to be stupid and pathetic. This is how genders are portrayed in the media.
Typical Male: durr... beer, durr... women boobies good, durr... can't aim into toilet right.....
Typical Female: my man needs to buy me more jewelry, i need a new pair of shoes and matching handbags, how do i pump gas?

How do you break a bone? Do just hit it really, really hard? And if you do why doesn't your hand or foot break when it makes contact?

I said smart AND fast not OR, just being smart doesn't help.

All has to do with pressure & leverage.

The training I learned in the military was not for subduing your opponent it focused on killing or permanently disabling your enemy.
This is a different concept from what you learn in your local Karate or Jujitsu dojo.

We were taught Combat maneuvers which consist of a combination of lethal martial art, wrestling & knife fighting.

For that reason if I ever was in a fight in town I limited myself to wrestling mostly with some jujitsu & judo moves.

I'm past middle age now but still have never been bested by a martial arts mamma's boy. (good thing cuz I'm too far outta shape now)

Not sayin a lucky punch or kick can't down me but if I get them down I gain complete control & can inflict massive pain six ways from Sunday. (they usually beg to be released at that point)

Oh & I disagree with you on this:
"... just being smart doesn't help."
I'm not fast by any measure.
