Since Random thread 58 lasted all of 30 seconds (before I even had a chance to predict how short it would last!), let’s start a new Random Thread.

And to start it off on a positive note in this time of angst, Trump, wars, tax season and the impending first-round sendoff of both Canadian hockey teams in this years playoffs, out first topic is:

Which is the better pet and why: cats or dogs?

(Let’s try to get RT95 to at least the 3rd page before its shutdown, shall we?)

What a hard question to answer . . .

I think it depends on the personality of the person, of course, but if I had to choose one I would say dogs 100% make better pets. I believe this to be true because they were bred to be companions: loyal and trusting, always loving and believing their owner is making the best decision for their happiness. Plus they are a lot better trained, usually, and they spend more time with their human.

They can also be trained to be good for any personality type. There are dogs for hunters, explorers, introverts, extroverts, service dogs for those in need, etc. So anybody should be able to find a type of dog or train any dog to be a good match for them.

Not saying cats can't do the same, but most cats are chill animals and keep to themselves unless they need something. Of course, though, they can also be trained and it's all up to the person. :)

This is an easy one for me. Anyone that has visited me or anyone else at the house probably have met George. He is the center of my world and has the best personality of any animal I have ever met.

, I love Dogs first , Horses second and People 3rd ;) Jus kidding , I like most people almost as much as dogs :)
If you weren’t joking, you wouldn’t be the first person to choose pets over people! Lol!

I used to want a cat when I was younger; I found dogs annoying, especially if they chased me when I was running or jumped on me while in a park. Then got a dog and cannot imagine life without her. Watching her bound after balls and sticks never fails to bring a smile on my face, even on the gloomiest of days. And she’s led me to meeting SO many more people in the neighbourhood, it’s unbelievable. (Tho I still only know them as “Clancy’s dad” or “Daisy’s mom” - I can remember all the sog names but never the people!)

Cats.

I neither need nor want anything that is slavishly obedient to me. Nor that high maintenance. Much like women. :p

Edit: Ok ... some women.

I agree with bdan.
Cats.
The epitome of independence and sometimes a maddening love/hate relationship. But also very self sufficient. Similar to the women I'm attracted to.
But always keep in mind- when they lick you they are really tasting you for future reference!

... Which is the better pet and why: cats or dogs? ...
The other day I was out in the bush walking with the dog. I idly wondered how many kilometers she and I have walked together over the years. I did a quick mental calculation and realized we must have done well over 10,000 kilometers together.

A cat would just think that the dog and I are both crazy for expending all that energy unnecessarily. The cat would be right, but the dog is my companion in crazyness.

You know, I'm exactly the same with SPs.
My eye sight is not the best anymore, but my taste buds have never let me down when I go down.:)

Another reason I grew to like dogs more. If one was to run into a HUGE dog, a St. Benard x 10, your biggest fear might be they'd crush you when they jumped on you in excitement (or drown you w/ slobber)! If one was to run into a HUGE cat, your first (and last) thought would probably be: I'm so dead right now... Given a choice of large wild animals, I'll take my chances with a large wolf over a mountain lion any day!

This is just one of many that sums it up:

Tho I must admit: cat gif’s tend to be funnier than dog gif ‘s!

I'm a cat lover.

I love cats. Especially tabby cats. I tend to favor female cats, because I think that they are prettier.

When it comes to purebreds, I love Siberians, Wegies, Somalis, Abbys, Bengals, and Ragdolls.

An attractive woman who loves and has cats, is my biggest turn-on.

R&SFTH,
Tim McGee.
I have a gorgeous male white cat with blue eyes :)
