One of the stories leading up to Super Bowl was the chance for Peyton Manning to QB 2 different teams to victory.
Obviously didn't happen but I got to wondering....how many qb's have PLAYED for 2 diff. teams in the SB?
In recent yrs, Kurt Warner played for St.Louis(1-1)and lost with Arizona.
Who else?
My uncle told me a guy named Craig Morton started SB V for the Cowboys, lost, was Staubach's back-up the following season
when they won, and started with Denver, when they lost to Staubach's Cowboys
Jim McMahon was qb for the 1985 Bears, one of the all-time best teams.By 1996 he'd been slowed by injuries but
was a seldom-used back-up to Brett Favre.
So, he was on 2 SB champ rosters, though if he got into the Pack's victory game it would've been to hold the ball on placements, which is doubtful
cuz most teams use their punter as a holder.....which is a segue........
WHY do NFL teams use a punter rather than a 2nd/3rd string qb as holder?
Teams practise fake FG's, why not use a guy who can throw? Also,in the evnt of a broken play, i.e. bad snap on the FG try,I'd rather have
an offensive guy to try to scramble out of it.
So, any other qb's on more than one SB participant?
thoughts on punters as holders?
We're having a break from the NHL due to the Olympics and for many it's a chance to heal minor injuries.
By this point of the season almost everybody has injuries of varying degree.
So, would it be a bad thing for the league to take a mid-season break of even one week to give guys a chance to recuperate?
I'd suggest from Wed. prior to Super Bowl to Wed. after SB.
On SB weekend, attention to hockey is greatly reduced anyway.
good idea?bad idea?
Here's one I KNOW will NEVER happen but I wish it would.Have the World Series played in warm weather sites a la the Super
Bowl,this yr notwithstanding.
Midnight baseball in late Oct. in the northern states can be bloody cold.Fans in parkas, Latino playets in balaclavas, with 3 layers of long-johns
makes me wonder if we're seeing baseball at its best?
I know the present format will continue,
Still, I wish the weekend games could be played in the afternoon for better weather.I understand it's tv wanting optimal viewership
which is at night.
Finally, would it totally root up soccer if more substitution were permitted?I think it's currently 3 subs can be made in EPL& the Euro leagues,
would adding cpl more hurt anything?
Look forward to hearing opinions on these&hope for others' random musings.
