The past little while, homesick, to me, has meant I missed Vancouver - which has been strange, but also nice as it meant Vancouver did finally somehow feel like home (even if I have no home there right and for the last few months! ha!) But for some reason, the past couple of days I've been homesick.. but thinking about Montreal. Maybe it's the Alberta climate (as opposed to the fall rainy days in Vancouver).. I don't know.

But I started searching for some music from some Montreal bands (Bran Van 3000 & Me, mom & Morgentaler -- I didn't really find much of the last one :() and ended up with some short videos about a few hot neighborhoods (quartier) in Montreal, one of which I lived in for the last 5-6 years I spent in Montreal, and the other 2 where I hung out when I wasn't I wasn't home; going out for dinner, drinks, coffee, visit lots of friends who lived in those areas, and checking out different DJ's or even my friends playing at one of the many cool spots.

I'm not sure if I feel less homesick, or more homesick after watching these but I thought they were still pretty cool, and might be neat for ppl who have never had the chance to visit this amazing city, my hometown, Montreal. :)

Enjoy ;)

This one made me smile, because this is where I spent my last years before I moved to Vancouver. I lived in the same apartment, a HUGE 3 bedroom apartment (prob 1000sqf) with 2 balconies, with beautiful hardwood floors, very high ceiling with some original and restored moldings. I lived with the same 2 roomates, my 2 best friends for all but the last year and our rent was $650/month. No, that is not $650/mont EACH but that was the actual total rent. Never going to find that west of Gatineau. LOL I have the best memories and threw some MAD parties both in my place in the winter months, but some outdoor parties with the guys who lived below us. Cops were called only once (and it was late enough, I'll agree) even though all of these parties had live DJ's.. The neighborhood was an ecclectic mix of new condo owners, artists, students, mixed in with the poeple who had grown up in the area, probably renting the same apartments.. gentrification in progress, I guess. Like everywhere else these days. But everyone, so friendly..

Quartier St-Henri:

I absolutely loved it there, but as one of my roomates left and then the other was also moving on, I figured it was time to also do the same or selse it would become too easy to get too comfortable and never do it. I really don't think you can find anything like it anywhere else and anyone who has had the experience, the real experience of visiting Montreal with an open mind and and open heart, knows precisely what I mean. Anyway, I had a rush of nostalgia just seeing my old breakfast place

Sigh.

This year, I'm going home for the holidays.
And I am looking forward to - in fact, I'm hoping there will snow. And lots of it. :D

Sorry, I know a lot of you may not care and that's fine. But anyone who's ever moved away and had a bit of homesickness at times, knows where I'm coming from. :) But the title should have been a warning to those who don't! Ha!

I am scared of moving away, because I don't like to be homesick. I would love to go to Montreal though, that is on the very top of my list of things to do. I don't blame you for being home sick. Hope you enjoy your time home for holidays :)
