Anyone use a radar detector. I just got my 4th ticket in 3 years and had to get one. Its a Escort Solo S2 cordless.

I use a valentine one, and so far so good.
I have 2 tickets in the last two years, and both of those were when I was renting econoboxes for work.
One for going 90 in an 80 zone in hope, and one for going 126 in a 110 zone on the way to kelowna.

None in the city in three years

I didn't think they still made those.

Totally ineffective against the new 'laser guns' that the cops use.

You can get GPS systems that tell you were the cops are now. They can even show were the road blocks are.

how about slowing down?
ussually this requires leaving earlier, taking you foot slightly of the accelerator.
this produces more money in you pocket, better fuel consumption and less stress.
25 years driving and only two speeding ticket.

Giddyup MasterRPC! My thoughts exactly.

If you plan to purchase the best radar detector in the market to avoid getting a 5th speeding ticket, perhaps that new gadget isn't what's going to keep you alive to see the 6th or 7th, or worse avoid a high-speed collision with an innocent driver that leaves him and his family of 5 dead.

Grow up Honda, you dumb-ass!:p

Lets not jump into conclusions...
There's speeding, limit +10km or so..... and then there's crazy speeding... "isn't this the autobahn?"

I don't think anyone has a beef with cops if they're pulling people for excessive speeding... but when they're pulling folks over for +5 to 10km on an empty street at 3am... that's kinda stupid.

I've always liked this comment. the police only give you 10 because that is their choice. When they are directed to have no tolerence guess what no tolerence.
the real question is did you break the speed limit or not? If you did pony up and pay. OR work to change the law.
One of my two tickets I got was from following the flow of traffic and yes the cars in front of me were pulled over as well.

Maybe the OP was only driving at 55km and got a ticket.

I personally believe that you should let the "rule of the road" dictate driving behaviour... with a few exceptions, eg. going 100km in the school lane at 8:50am.

As for tickets, one was for not entering the intersection before a yellow while making a left turn.... another was because I wanted to speed up in front of another car before a merge. Neither was dangerous, but should one be must punished for such a minor infraction?

Aren't these illegal?

Thats not why you buy $90000 cars with 500hp under the hood. Plus fast drivers dont kill people, bad drivers do. In Germany you basically take a road racing course in order to get your licence. Then you will actually know something about weight transfer. Most high speed accidents are related to weight transfer.

My cordless radar is getting shafted at radar detector forums. Some are saying its pure junk and I should go with a corded model. I kind of jumped in too fast into this because I dont like how cords look and the hassle so I bought a cordless one right away.
