Are You Happy?

Research shows happiness is highest among college-aged people, then falls until about 45, when people are the most miserable, then climbs up again to the elderly, who are surprisingly happy and satisfied.

I have always been happy, except for the fact almost every other person pisses me off at some point, and when girlfriends have dumped me, or pets died. Otherwise, I’m pretty stable.

Not too happy, not too sad.

I was pretty miserable most of my life until I quit drinking and became completely self employed. The last 10 months have been incredible.
Congratulations! Stick to it.

Don't let losers or idiots or trolls drag you down to their level. Walk away.
Yeah...I gotta start doing that myself.
It's just in my nature when I see a one eyed troll ,creeping from under a bridge, to pick up a big flat rock.....and hurl it in his direction.

I think I've moved into the quiet years of my life. I'm financially secure, I've buried a few axes , and I like who I am, and my own company.
I make friends easy, but some need more attention than I can give them....my occupation needs the freedom of not having a schedule , as every day brings its own challenges, and solutions, but that takes away time from socializing.

.....and hopefully also the bodies you buried those axes in....:biggrin1:

Ok here's a downer of a response:

Honestly on paper I should be, but no. Can't say I noticed any upswing after 45 either. I feel like I get happiness out of the thrill of anticipating where I'm going, rather than appreciating where I am. Most of my time (work, home) is just about keeping the status quo (keeping the business flowing, fixing things that break at home), etc. So "where I am" is comfortable but more emotion is dedicate to maintaining it than enjoying it. The world political climate these days doesn't do much for my optimism either.

Making the best of a crappy situation. Bunch of medical problems which I need to beat Doctors say I need to do this and that, refrain from basically anything fun. Seems more like just existing than living but once I beat a few of the medical problems I can resume a normal life. Things will get better

I would describe my state as content.

Peace
Mine was Missouri.

I'm generally pretty happy, with the exception for a couple of threads here. Life has ups and downs. It's not how many times we get knocked down, but how many times we get up.

A few years back I began focusing more on what I was grateful for than what was pissing me off. This has had a significant impact on my outlook/happiness. I have also began mentoring some younger colleagues and take joy in what they are accomplishing. Life is good.
