I found a checklist from San Francisco Chronicle food editor Michael Bauer's new food blog, Between Meals.
I adjusted the list for SP reviews. Feel free to add anything
Calling for an INCALL Appointment
- How are you treated on the phone? It’s surprising how many times the attitude of the SP foreshadows what is to come.
- When you ask for an appointment, are you interrupted and given the standard line: “I can see you at 8:30 or 10″? Or do they listen and try to work with you?
At the Door
- How are you greeted?
- How long do you have to wait before the session starts? (My feeling is that you should give the SP the same latitude they give you.)
After YOU DECIDE to Enter
- Are you greeted promptly by the SP?
- Does she maintain a professional and cordial attitude?
- Does she seem happy to have you there?
- Are you allowed enough time during your session with the SP so you don’t feel you’re being rushed?
Checking Yourself
- How do you feel? Are you tired or in a bad mood?
- Has bad service in the past influenced your attitude toward the session?
- Have the opinions of her reviews swayed your attitude?
- Even if you’re having a particularly good time, are you still paying close attention so that your getting what you paid for?
Scoping Out the SP
- Look around the reviews and ask yourself: Has everyone had a pleasant time with her?
- Is everyone being treated equally well (or as poorly as you are)?
- Do her reviews from each client look pretty much the same?
- Have others genuinely enjoyed their time with her?
Determining Professional Service
- Is she well groomed and at ease?
- Does she answer questions completely or find out the answers promptly?
- Does she maintain safety at all times during the session? PERHAPS THE HEALTH NURSE COULD GIVE SOME POINTERS HERE
- Does she perform in an unobtrusive manner?
- If there is a delay, does she communicate what’s going on?
- If you complain, does she listen and act accordingly?
- Is the SP able to “read” your body language and adapt her behavior? (Some people want lots of interaction, others don’t. The best SP's are adept at determining that).
Surveying the Services
- Can you easily read the type on her web page?
- Does the written description reflect what she REALLY has to offer?
- Do the choices in each category i.e. GFE, DATY, BBBJ ... seem well balanced so you can easily put things together for a session?
- Are her prices reasonable, given the surroundings and service? (ambiance, looks, cleanliness, hygiene, style, class, etc)
Evaluating the Services List she has to offer
- Is the type large enough to read?
- Is the list logically organized?
- Are there selections in each price range?
- Does the SP have a personality that distinguishes her from others?
- Are the prices reasonable compared to the price of other SP's?
- Does the SP offer anything special?
- Does the service selection and presentation enhance the theme of the experience?
When the Session Begins
- Do her pictures match the person you meet? Does she have a consistent style? Factor in fashion, body type, fitness, cleanliness, sanity etc
- Is there an attempt to make the experience visually appealing?
Evaluating the SP
- When you take your first kiss for example, what’s your immediate reaction?
- Are the sessions FUN and integrated? (No session, even a short one, should be dull or boring.)
- Is the service what it should be? (Even if you don’t like DATY, for example, you still need to know the good from the bad).
- How does this session compare to similar sessions you’ve had with other SP's?
- If the session is exciting, what is it that makes it so? If it’s mediocre, why?
- Check your attitude, once again: Are you sure it’s the SP that’s the problem or are you in a bad mood or frustrated by poor service?
- Is the SP worth the price?
Analyzing the INCALL Ambience
- Quick, what’s your first impression?
- Are you excited to be there when you look around the room?
- How does the decor compare to those of other SP's INCALL LOCATIONS?
- Is there an attention to detail in the design?
- How does the place smell? VERY IMPORTANT ***
- Are the surroundings large enough?
- Are the beds comfortable?
- Is the look of the place — consistent with the price?
- Regardless of the amount spent on the interior, is there an attempt to make things pleasant?
- Check out the bathrooms — the quickest way to determine an SP’s sanitation habits. Is everything clean and tidy?
When You’re Ready to Leave
- Does the SP acknowledge you as you leave at the door?
After You Leave
- What is your overall impression of the session?
- Are there any services that you can’t wait to try again?
- What stands out as the strongest and weakest aspects of the session?
- Does the experience achieve its stated or implied objectives?
- Would you go back? If so, why? If not, what would need to be changed?
After Your Third Visit
- Do you still want to go back?
- Was the SP and service consistent?
- Can you see patterns that will help you project whether the SP or service will improve or get worse?
- Do you feel comfortable with your evaluation?
- Will going back another time or two help you find the answer?
Congratulations. You’re now ready to write your review.

Here’s a checklist of questions to help you evaluate your experiences. If you haven't already, by all means check out his post about the factors he takes into consideration upon reviewing a restaurant. Whether you're a fledgling restaurant critic, an involved diner or just someone who wants more insight into the mind of a food writer, Bauer's list is a great glimpse. It should also serve as a helpful reminder to restaurant staff, especially the front of the house, that in many cases, not a single detail goes unnoticed.
