You are now able to get all your results over the phone. You also have the option of getting your results in person if you would prefer that.
I just checked with the clinic and currently they are telling woman to call back in 7 days for results and men 8 days for results.
The reason they tell men to call back in 8 days is because all men who get a HIV test at the 12th ave clinic or the Bute street clinic automatically get the pooled HIV NAAT test as well as the normal HIV antibody test (its part of a study we are doing at the two clinics).
This test is run in batches twice a week so takes an extra day to get your result. The addition of the pooled HIV NAAT test increases the early detection ability of the tests by making the HIV test 90% accurate by 10 days.
