Dear Health Nurse,

I just would like to get your opinion about the following question:

Which act has a higher level of risk of HIV for a man, getting a BBBJ CIM with a cut on the penis and a cut in the mouth of the SP or unprotected regular sex?

Thank you in advance.

Hi wally

It is very hard to quantify risk, because there are many factors that go into figuring out risk. Overall the risk with oral sex is very low, and even with the cuts it would probably be lower than unprotected vaginal sex.
This is because we don't find HIV in the mouth. The acids and enzymes are not kind to HIV, so there needs to be blood to blood contact, because HIV will not be in the saliva.
So with the cuts.....maybe....... but the person with HIV would probably need to be bleeding for HIV to pass through the broken skin on the penis.

Let me know if this answers your question or if you need more info.

It mostly answers my question but just one more little question.
In case there is bleeding on the penis and in the mouth of the provider meaning blood to blood contact does this mean the situation here would be similar to blood transfusion and will the infection occur 100%?

No, there is not a 100% chance of transmission in that case. It is more complicated than a direct blood transfusion because there are many factors that contribute to transmission such as viral load, health.
