Question about incall locations

Do you feel more comfortable going to a hotel or a private apartment? Why or why not?

I currently use a nice hotel myself, but was considering getting an apt. for a few reasons. One is the check-in & check-out times exclude the busiest time of day for me, 11am-3pm for my incalls. However, given that I only do incalls one day a week an apt may would probably cost me more over the course of a month, and I am not too keen on going into a lease on an apt. I would consider sharing a place with another SP but I do not know any others that work in this city. I also do not feel comfortable bringing people into my home so that is not an option either.

If you're seen going into an apartment, it's much easier to explain to whom ever asks why you entered the apartment.

On the other hand, if it were a hotel, it could be problematic.

"Yes dear, I was visiting an out of town friend, AGAIN, this week" ...

"didn't you have a out of town friend last week, and the week before? how many out of town friends do you have?"

"A lot, hmmm are you following me or something?"

lol...

If you get an apt, would you still be doing in-call once a week?

I prefer an apartment as well, far less chance of meeting someone you know.

On the other hand it's easier to come up with a reason for being in a hotel in the middle of the day than a strange apartment block if you are seen.

Hopefully another SP may see this and contact you about sharing space or maybe renting you their space 1 or 2 days a week. I agree that it's not a good idea to work out of your home, I don't know why anyone would.

Apartment definitely

I concur with the above posts regarding an apartment. Discretion is very important; hotel/motel are not well known for said discretion. Plus, at an apartment, you can have your own music, drinks, shower, change of sheets, pillows, etc. which may make it more your own and, likely, more relaxing for your client. This, in turn, may mean a better overall experience for all involved. Customer happy and content means more repeat business and plenty of new clients looking for same.

pros appartment
descretion
more relaxed
homier touch
cons appartment
could always be someone else lurking (using a new and untried sp
that is):)
always that chance of running into someone and have no way of
explaining your presence
safety
just my two cents worth;)

I'd vote for apt. and for the same reasons, as well. More privacy, relaxed atmosphere and the freedom to set it up how you like. Their are some reasonable and no-too-shabby looking flats out there. The costs could easily be handled by a couple of appointment$. I'd use it purely for 'work', though, if I were an SP *ahh..envisions servicing hot women and getting paid for it...............no chance :\ *

Apartment Baby!!

Please Elle, get an apartment. You can still post the days you want to work or when you're on vacation but you'll get more business without the outrageous overhead and hassles of hotels.

Can't wait to visit your incall location.

From the standpoint of keeping a low profile, a hotel room is probably better. However, it has to be a larger, better quality hotel, otherwise the clients may be reluctant to go there. And, you can always rotate among a few hotels to keep your profile even lower. From the client's perspective, if he runs into someone he knows, it's easier to make an excuse for being in a hotel than an apartment building, as long as the hotel has a restaurant and/or bar.

If you do go the apartment route, it's better to pick a large building. The tenants are less likely to know what their neighbours are up to than in a small building. A steady stream of men going to the same apartment is likely to attract attention from nosy neighbours.

Ok so far I have this listed out.

Apt. : Pros
------------
No hassle with check-in times
Flat fee for the month
Can keep my stuff there (no more hauling a suitcase)
May be able to off set costs by sharing.

Apt. Cons
------------------
Nosey neighbors
Possible noise complaints ;)
lease
have to supply linens (ugh!)
have to do own laundry (double ugh!)
High start up cost (damage dep., phone, internet, furniture)

Hotel Pros
---------------
maid service
pay only for the number of days/nights needed
can move from day to day
generally well insulated for sound ;)

Hotel cons
--------------------
Can be quite costly if I work more days
check in/out times can be a pain
maid sometimes knocks at a bad time
Can be hard to get additional towels when needed

Did I miss anything?

I only work about 4 days a month, so the hotel may well be more economical.
I do use a very nice hotel normally. I already get all the business I can handle on my incall days. The only way I would be able to do more appts is if I were to work more days, and that has nothing to do with whether I use an apt or hotel. That is dictated by my hectic schedule IRL.

When I see you again it will not be a "possible noise complaint", I will guarantee that it will be a "definite noise complaint" :D :D ;)

LOL Looking forward to it Chuck. =)
Speaking of which, does anyone have any ideas how to "insulate" an apt as to keep the noise to a minimum? Some of the places I have looked at have hard wood floors and seem to echo a lot. Off the top of my head, all I can think of is getting some rugs or carpeting and maybe some weather stripping around the door. Any have any other suggestions?

music? a gag? lol

You will be wasting your funds getting an apt for 4 days a month only!!! Having an apt could be trouble too if you have someone who wants to stalk you or cause problems - hope that never happens to you!!!

Using a hotel it is easy to change locations if you do have someone 'bothering' you. Not very easy to change apt locations.

Hotels let you take extra towels too, and do your laundry.
Cleaning ladies are usually all around the hallways though at a time that you refer to as your busy time .. in the afternoon.
My opinion: stick to hotels, many have day rates too, for when you just want to arrange a few sessions in the day.
It is all up to you!!!!! :)

I would definitely see you if you had an apartment.
Why would it make that much of a difference if I were in an apt rather than a hotel?

I do have a lot of reservations about getting an apt yet, mostly because of the reasons sixpack mentions, about not being able to shift locations easily. I have had friends that have had problems with clients who thought it would be okay to just drop by to see if she "just happened to be available" and what not.

apt or hotel doesn't matter too much...

a in-call is a in-call...it's not like comparing a girl with a out-call only setup.

the fact that you only take appointments only once a week is more problematic in terms of setting something up, atleast for me anyhow...

1pm start time can't see you before work (at work), and 10pm end time can't see you after work (still at work) lol...oh well one of these days.

Apts are good & private and the traffic isn't usually a problem. But from a client's point, you never know if someone else isn't also there.

Hotels are safer from a client's AND sp's view, BUT the traffic may cause concern. The bigger the city/hotel the less the concern.

For regulars, apts are ok. For first time vists hotels are best.

Just my thoughts, but there is really no one answer, it depends on the situation. BUT either way it must have a bed :)
