what does this mean?

it wont go on my criminal record will it? i was caught in a car (but not in the act) with a known streetwalker. i was told a report was entered. i presume this wont appear on any criminal background check, but anytime im pulled over for speeding it will.

is that about accurate?

Any arrests will be filed in criminal record, any other ecounters with the police would probably be filed in another report? most likely your license would be tagged and police would pull u over more often.

Every interaction you have with the police whether its friendly or not is recorded in CPIC (cdn police info centre). Its meaningless except for the purposes of pulling you over again if they run your plates and you're out trolling for street pussy! This info is deleted in 5 years if there has been no charge or conviction. Unless you were caught in the act you have nothing to worry about but I'd avoid the street scene for a while if I was you.

Since you'll have more time on your hands maybe a review or two would be nice ;)

Interesting (about the info being deleted in 5 years).....

One time I was in Calgary for business, (in about 1997) and had a rental car. I decided to cruise the "stroll" and was stopped as soon as I started talking to a SW. No, she didn't get in my car, NO, she wasn't undercover. When the officer stopped me, he asked me for my I.D., and checked me out. I didn't have anything outstanding, so after about 5-10 mins, he let me go. I was a little nervous, considering the circumstances, etc. Nothing ever came of it, but I can say that I haven't looked for a SW in years.

Yes, as the others do say...it's safer to stay indoors (MP), or go through the 'net (PERB).

My two cents.

You are lucky some places they will put your full name in the local paper.
SW are not worth the money you save.

before i was even in this hobby, i was pulled over,

my place of work actually was next to a stroll.
i wasn't a hobbiest, but for excercise i would walk to work some time and say hi to some of the girls.
i was curious i admit. but, had no intention of following up. i was just talking to some one i had said hi to many times before, this time i was in a car and stopped.
he said my name would be on file for a while, just to see if my name poped up again some where, but eventually it would be deleted.

its actually pretty stupid to be pulled over for talking to a s.w.
every one used to stop and talk to the girls. fire trucks buses ambulances.
if they arrested everyone who talked to an escort, half the dam population would have a criminal record

Victoria area
I recently read an article (Victoria Times Colonist I believe) about Criminal record checks done by charities/community groups etc. The writer mentioned that a lot of these "notes" show up in the record checks and there doesn't seem to be any resources devoted to ensuring that any of this stuff ever actually leaves the database.

IMO, the odds are that your name will show up on CPIC for at least 5 years assuming the cop in question could actually be bothered to sit in the car and type for a few minutes. They may or may not ever get around to deleting that information.

I'll admit, the idea that they can keep this sort of semi secret file of hearsay and innuendo about you with little or no oversight disturbs me more than a little.

On that happy note...

I find it equally disturbing specially when you have not even been charged of a crime and you have no access to this information and no way to challenge its truthfulness or lack thereof.

I do know that none of this shows up on criminal records searches because I was required to obtain one for a charity Im involved with and Ive had several heated exchanges with the police and they have told me there are "notes" about me in their little computer. Needless to say I politely told to him to stick it into his not so little ass!
