Hello Perbies.
Everyone's habits are a little different I'm sure, but mine is to get tested regularly (at least every 6 months) and shortly after any session where there is any risk of picking something up (eg. a provider who jumps the gun and does BBBJ before we have a chance to put a hat on...).
I used to go to the BCCDC at 12th and Cambie, but I found that they started asking too many questions and prying a bit too much into my activity. A few years ago I migrated to CheckHimOut.com (Health Initiative for Men), which caters to the gay community, but they service anyone who walks through the door. I found them to be much less hung up about with whom one is consorting. Well with Covid, you can no longer book appointments with CheckHimOut and you need to call and show up the evening of, which isn't convenient for me.
So I found this new service run by BCCDC – https://getcheckedonline.com/Pages/default.aspx – which is completely anonymous and you can set your own appointment time at a participating Life Lab. Pretty cool, so I thought it worth sharing.
Basically the process is this:
1. Register online with email (you can be completely anonymous).
2. Generate custom form with a QR code.
3. Receive the QR code by email.
4. Show up (as much as an hour wait) or book at time at the Life Lab.
5. Check in by showing your QR code.
6. Get tested.
5. Go online to get results in 5-7 days (I got an email message that results were ready a couple of days after testing).
This service is available in Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kamloops and Nanaimo at the moment.
Be safe gents.
