I've seen the edited TV version of the parade on the Shaw Channel.
It looks wild & out of control.
Could a straight pooner be entertained?

I remember a couple of years ago, watching the lesbos float thing go by. On the float were all these topless dykes. The butchy hairy ugly ones where hogging all the best and highest spots on the float. There were a whole bunch of guys, my guess that they were mostly hetero, who all happened to be standing near each other. As the float passed by, there was this teen girl (late teens) who sat squished into the back of it, with beautiful puffy nipples, budding breasts, and cute face. Suddenly all the guys stared and their eyes tracked her like hungry wolves as she went by. I'll bet that's why she was put into the place that she was sitting by the ugly dykes.

and they wonder why we call them ferries

or queens

scary dykes

sexy dyke :)

and here's why I have a problem with the who gay pride parade concept

It's a massive double standard that GL's want to be treated as equals but are provided special treatment for events like this. If the straight community wanted to hold a similar event with near naked people and live sex acts in the streets there would be an outrage, cops called and people arrested. I honestly don't have any issue with the equal rights....screw who, live with, marry who ever you want, by all means have the same protections as hetero couples.

I believe if you look back to when Gay Pride parades started, there was public outrage, mass arrests etc. But the Gay/Lesbian community persevered and now hold their celebration more or less unmolested. I also read about one city where they were trying to make the Pride Parade about sexuality and were trying to encourage straight people to join in the fun. I think it may have been in Germany, but I can't find it right now.

However, if you really want to be arrested and beaten up, you could always find a number of like minded folk and start your Straight Pride parades. You may be dissapointed though, when no one shows up to beat you with a baton and throw your exposed ass into jail.

oh dear

I expected the members here to have a more liberal stance on sexual preference. If its not for you, dont watch. If you dont like a TV program, you change the channel. There is no need for negative comments. Get back to reviewing sexy women.

Yeah it's a double standard alright. We live in a world that is increasingly unfair to the majority. But what the hell, if they're gonna show themselves buck naked, why do they have to show the FUGLY ONES? Don't even dykes have any taste? Do they honestly have attraction to hairy fat stinky disgusting women??

Absolutely, problem is you can't turn off a public event like a parade. If the fags want to put their cock and balls in a little leather pouch or prance around with their ass hanging out of a tutu so be it as long as it doesn't interfere with the MAJORITY. Likewise, as much as I love sexy women wearing revealing outfits I don't want to see them with their tits hanging in public.

Public, yes - but the westend is hardly 6/9th avenue Calgary. Does everyone in the westend embrace the "life-style"? Of course not - however, more people embrace, accept (or tolerate) it, than you're likely to find watching this type of parade!

Once a year, for a couple of hours, within a "like-minded" community - is there a problem?

That's correct. Within the parade you'll see politicians and corporate sponsors, and close to 200,000 spectators watching. Last year you would have seen this same (Cowtown parade) float in the Van Pride parade - go figure.

I LOVE the parade and have attended every year since I was 16. In fact, this week is an insanely busy week for me becuase I attend as many events as possible. Homopalooza was great :D
The parade is entertaining for -anyone- unless you are offended by the human body (male or female) or homophobic. It is youngen friendly, as long as that youngen has been raised in an open environment where the human body is not shameful. I am sure a parent knows what is appropriate for their offspring and what isn't.
I suggest anyone who is curious go! There are LOADS of straight people that go along with the pans/bi/les/gay/trans community. The entertainment at the end of the parade is great, and had lil people centers hosted by ikea and another company.. coloring and crafts etc.. there are vendors and yummy food. Theres the beach, and the stage with amazing performers!
Drag Queen anyone?
