This is a but the food industry ..but could apply to the escort business just as easily.

There's a local restaurant in my apt building that started up about 7months ago , and it menu has hot smaller and it prices keep going up . I know that burgers and sandwich have been going up in price $15 or so is the average price for loaded burger and fry in most pubs
And when they have the business they can get away with charging that ..
This place does not have the business .Why ? Because they are in the middle of all 7 fast food places, a long standing local restaurant and Dennys 200 m away.
There is a new holiday Inn right next door but their clientele are not the high priced food foke.

I have seen them try to cater to breakfast for the hotel ..buy that failed ..I have seen them have a large menu when they started with reasonable prices ,but still a little high , now the menu is half the size with high priced meals..

I have seen this before in other type of business .they don't have the clientele to pay the bill so they think will raise the prices. WRONG STRATEGY.!!

Find some simpler lower priced item that draw people in and fits their bugget.

I fig they will be out of business by Christmas. .unless they have very deep pockets and find the niche.

Sound familiar for what happens in Victoria when high price girl from Vancouver or Toronto try to work here. ..Some try 350 but the smart one lower their prices to what the local market will pay .

Maybe one of the many businesses used to launder money. Seen a few over the years.
There's one near me I'm sure is either a front or its laundering money. Place has been open since the 60's with only exterior paint being redone, the food hasn't been passible for the last 15 years and no ones ever inside, yet they are open 8-8 m-f and 8-5 Saturday

They say when you are in retail, you should situate yourself near your competition. Bridal stores on East Hastings for example.

If I look at Lonsdale Ave in North Van; there is a White Spot, Browns, McDonalds, multiple sushi places, Indian restaurants, Persian, Russian, Chinese, couple of pubs, pizza joints etc etc. The point is they are all busy, all have varying price points and basically something for everyone from the waterfront to Queens Ave north of the highway.

What weeds them out quickly is poor service or lousy food and not the price points.

Perhaps the place in your neighbourhood has a bit of both?

The area you are talking aboutprobably has lot of local residents in walking distance.

Where i am only has a few apt and condos most of the traffic is through traffic thus the fast food with drive
through . But very few of the people are local they are just going some where else .they might stop for gas across the street ..or the thrift is up the street , but if it comes to eating they will do timmies or wendies or Mac D.
I think this this place market criteria was mis leading .
There just is not the walking traffic or a large retail and shopping complex to bring them past his door.

I live in North Van and totally agree with your evaluation of the situation on Lonsdale.

BTW, Palki's is my favorite Indian restaurant and Hachi Hana is my favorite Japanese restaurant :)

For me it depends how much I want to work, if its a working holiday or more of a real holiday. No harm in treating yourself to some partial time off and pretending to be fancy ;)

I snipped your quote to save space, not a commentary on the content.

Someone else touched on it in the thread, I don't think price alone is a determining factor in just about anything. I've had a few guys msg and comment that my asked for donation is too high. But what that really means is it's too high for "them". Whether it be Victoria or somewhere much smaller, there is always a market for higher priced items, that market is just smaller and those looking to service that market need to be aware of it and conduct themselves accordingly.

Now if the place you are talking about has, average food, high prices and lousy service, ok let the market forces deal with them. :amen:

As someone with limited funds, I normally cannot afford the services of the higher priced ladies. But I have to agree with Katie's comment. Just because I cannot afford Katie's services does not mean her prices are too high. I cannot afford a Porsche either, but that does not mean I do not appreciate their vehicles. I think they are worth every penny and if I ever win the lottery I will definitely buy at least one Porsche. And don't get me started on which SPs I would see if I win the lottery :)
