I just noticed I went from 1500 plus posts yesterday to 1460 today. Been some spring cleaning going on?????

the way I understand it, when somebody quietly retires and asks for their posts to be deleted, mods delete all the threads that the retiree ever posted in - so a lot of other posters take a post count hit

I don't think that's quite accurate. Any thread that the removed handle started will certainly disappear along with all the replies from other members in that thread. However, I believe that only their posts vanish from threads that they replied to. For example, I recently noticed a certain handle that has been removed but in threads where that former member had been quoted by others, those quotes of now removed posts remain.

I think thats true, I recall when alinburnaby left, his threads got deleted. Including a 10+ thread on stocks/financial management, where many other members spent a great deal of effort contributing too. Pretty silly

Welcome to Perb... Where disappearing posts is a regular occurance!

I felt good about reaching 1500, now it may take sometime to recover. That is why I never really celebrate any landmark number of postings. Just when you think you got there, poof - gone, lol.

It's like they took every useful bit of criticism and did the opposite. They took great pains to alienate some fantastic posters who no longer post anywhere.

actually, if i remember correctly little asian guy asked to have his account deleted and retired gracefully from perb, i could be wrong though... you know how the memory gets, lol
