I was surfing the other day and came across this discussion that said these guys do it for the hunt.

For me, street walkers have always represented the epitomy of the hobby. It replicates "the hunt" much more so than, say, going into an in-call place and having the girls paraded before you. It also harkens back to many hobbyists's first experiences of sex or hobbying and therefore elicits a powerful response.
LE and other risks only add to the excitement. All of your senses are heightened and you rely in your instinct. Do I let her in the car or not? A fateful decision!
On the street there are no rules and you never know what you are going to find.
At the same time, you enjoy the show from the comfort of your car while listening to your favorite music. When you spot appropriate prey, you move in, cautiously, always watching your back.
There is also something endearing about many, (usually "independent") streetwalkers. Caught in the grip of a terrible addiction; helpless, vulnerable, willing to do or to endure whatever is asked of them. The perfect submissive.
As for STDs, facials and certain kinds of S&M are relatively risk free options. Obviously anything else has to be covered. How far you go depends on the genre of SW.
Its too bad that streetwalking is relatively dead in NY. Yes, its here or there sporadically, but nothing like it used to be, or like it still is in, unfortunately, fewer and fewer places.

A lot of your comments are well taken and agreed with.
The SW scene is one of total variabilty at any given moment......the number of SW at the time, the presence of LE just around the corner.....the possibilty of being set up by the SW for a mugging or maybe even worse. The possibilty of being setup by LE for a sting...etc.
I have'nt been doing the street scene for a long time, although, I still take an occasional "cruise" through the "hood" to see what's happening. Most of the time, it's a waste of time......but occasionaly, it works for you big time......and that's when you want to set up future "dates" and get names and phone numbers, but even then, there is no guarantee the girl will be there and ready for you when the agreed upon time arrives.
For me, it has worked out to my advantage......but only after a lot of time and legwork.......most of the time, it's hit or miss.
I once was almost nailed in a LE setup/sting in Carteret, NJ. I drove down the main street and saw an exciting looking chick who was obviously "on the street". I went back to meet her in a parking lot used for a local restaurant. She came over to my car and started to talk, said her name was Mercedes....but she wouldn't get into my car. To make a long story short, I realized that something was not right. She suggested we carry on our conversation around the corner on a side street. When I moved in that direction, I saw 2 undercover LE detctives in an unmarked car sitting in a gas station just across the street!!!
Needless to say I turned and left the area before they could get me on a "soliciting a prostitute" charge.
So yes, the SW scene can be a street "high" but always remember that it can also land you in police headquarters, and/or, the local jail.

You hit the nail on the head. It's the thrill of the hunt that takes most there. Whether you pick up anyone or not just the hunt is excitement enough at times.
I have seen it all on the streets 99% you wouldn't want to even be closer than 50 yrds to. But there is always the thrill of the girl just came out for the first time or two.
Yes most are all drug addicted but I've seen tell tale signs of drug abuse on some known providers in my time also. Don't always judge a book by it's cover.
Some girls can fool the best of us.
