I don't follow. Please specify (using quotes ideally) which posts constitute harassment. Maybe amongst all the words in here there is something that makes this true, but if so I missed it.

Isabelle has already emphatically and publically stated that she feels harassed and hounded by OTBn.

that’s quite an allegation, particularly as she follows up suggesting otherwise.

since it’s such a serious allegation… as I recall, she/I have only ever interacted in two threads:
– one she deleted. In that thread I made a single post, a single sentence that suggested she unfavourably coloured her commentary by phrasing it around a rape reference… that’s it, in its entirety. Shortly after in that thread another poster carried on and in much greater pointed detail questioned/challenged her about what she had stated. She then deleted the thread.
– the second thread is still around & intact… accordingly, any harassment aspects should be easy to find and present.

btw: the quote reference to “the seeing how this plays out” was about the dynamics being played out vis-à-vis “one board versus the other” – nothing to do with an individual. The incorrectly quoted comment is quite clear/succinct; not sure why someone would want to use it in another way.

as for the rest: as many around here I’ve had a few incarnations - I’ve been around since the beginning but as relationships change, I’ve had long extended periods of absence… maybe 8 months being the longest away at a single point. When I have left I’ve asked my current handle/posts to be deleted – simply thinking “that’s it”. In those earlier periods I was more active in participating in Perb forums other than the Lounge – at this stage I’m very much less inclined to want to read/post reviews… YMMV seems ever prominent. If it costs me monetarily… c’est la vie. Today, yes my posting interests are skewed – but I’m not talking to myself… there must be other interest in “those threads”… and I feel I have contributed to much that is not strictly political in nature – for now, this handles history is still there if you’re inclined. A lot of detractors don’t hold to the same political leanings as I – so it either comes out in reasoned discussion… or less than reasoned discussion and some develop more antagonistic feelings rather than coming back with actual counter-opinion.

One thing I’ve been consistent in over these ‘board years’ is sticking up for the ladies presence and their direct participation. As I’ve said I’ve been here a while – presuming to validate the ladies presence has cost me in the past as many pooners suggest/imply they don’t belong on the review boards. Isabelle, I’ve stated we’ve had limited direct interaction in 2 threads – it’s unfortunate you took my single sentence comment, in the thread you deleted, as a direct challenge to your presence or right to post… the thread you deleted had value and you should think about putting the topic forward again. I encourage you to stand on your convictions if someone questions your views on something.

One final comment on this thread: I thought the intended topic had legs and deserved a proper run – unfortunately we had a couple of guys purposely steer it off topic… one of them as much stated exactly that in subsequent follow-up… as well as the several who took it as an opportunity to “compare/critique boards”. I’ve taken my lumps for attempting to put the thread back to its original intent. Thanks to the few of you who commented on the actual topic…

One final comment on this thread: I thought the intended topic had legs and deserved a proper run – unfortunately we had a couple of guys purposely steer it off topic… one of them as much stated exactly that in subsequent follow-up… I’ve taken my lumps for attempting to put the thread back to its original intent. Thanks to the few of you who commented on the actual topic…

So what have you learned then from this?
The thread was as you called it "purposely" steered off topic for good
reason, simply, as it was in most people's eyes and assinine idea not worthy
of rebutle.

Also if you want to try and put a thread back to it's original intent why
not "purposely" try and steer it back in that direction with a plea of
"okay I see your humour, can we get back to the topic at hand?"
Simple, no?

But no, you took a hissy fit and deleted the posters threads, mine included.
And as you saw and said, you've taken your lumps for doing so.
That is what pissed people off that you couldn't take it on the chin and
except that the idea of what you posted wasn't even worth debate to
most.

Better luck on your next topic. I look forward to it.

I agree with posters complaints about getting deleted and edited (which could be easily remedied simply by preventing anyone from deleting the first post in a thread unless they are a moderator).

However, I think, given the fact that 90% of the illegal heroin being sold is coming from there, maybe if 80% was coming from there and 10% more morphine was available for people who genuinely are suffering, that might be a good thing.

I hope they can pull it off. However, pulling it off will be dependant on a number of things not the least of which is rule of law. While India and Turkey (the countries compared to in both papers) are fairly messed up countries there is some effort to work under the law.

Furthermore, unless they are willing to pay the going price for the opium they aren't going to get anywhere. My impression was they were arguing you could pay less than the drug dealers for the opium - very bad idea. Match or beat the illegals price. Eventually they won't be able to compete. In fact, in that scenario you probably wouldn't have to license farmers. They'd just go with whomever paid the most provided they didn't think their safety was at stake. Given that there is a 2900% mark up on medicinal morphine and codeine this is probably doable.

Do ya see the hypocrisy in your censorship attempt - cause that's exactly what it translates to when you admit you did it purposely.
