I'm not even sure under which category they would fit under, though I suspect it would be the same as actors, dancers and artists. Which means they have to pay under some circumstances, and not on others...

I do know some SPs pay income tax. I believe they are either filed under self-employed( for indies) for which they can claim their business i.e in-call apartment, cell phone bill, and etc; or they file under service business.

For Sps,it is definitely a wise thing for you ladies to file something but not everything. The government is not dumb to see you have money to buy a car ,paying rent or travelling! Especially one day when you have decided to own a property, the government will ask you where is your money come from? Then you will have quite a hard time to explain!

you go ahead and do it, but I won't pay $500 and I know must won't either. I know a few who would but you think you would make more.

Silkrose, I think you're taking this a little bit too seriously. 99% of the posters in here find this clown's call to arms laughable at best. I doubt he even takes himself too seriously either. He's just stirring the pot!

And Julia, I like your panache...

i think that if there were not so many sp's whose idea of service wasn't so lousy, that there would be a lot less discussion about the price of that service.

the most i ever paid to see an sp was to Gina Lee who ended up under-charging and over-servicing me ... no complaints there.

can list an endless stream of others who charged the 'going rate' and never got anything going ... lots of complaints there.

and i think that is the issue with prices -- after taking an inordinate number of hits for the team, i have cut my pooning down to nothing at all ...

and are there lots of guys out there lining up for sp's? good.

but i won't be one.

and its not about price, its about service -- or, more specifically, about attitude.

the great thing about Gina wasn't just the fantastic sex, but that for the time i was with her she treated me like i was the only guy she ever wanted to be with ... and that's a great attitude!

Forums such as Terb allow the pooner to greatly reduce the number of bad experiences.
Do your research and you can avoid girls who are scammers or provide horrible service. You should also be able to find which girls fit your tastes.

As for price, its like anything in the marketplace, there something for everyone at every price level. It depends on your preference and on what you can afford.
Compare it to a haircut. You can get a $8 haircut at the barber. It may be that $8 is all you can afford, or you may prefer the $8 haircut to anything else. You could also spend $20, $50, $100 or more at salon.
Maybe you can only afford $20 but you would like to go to a higher end salon. You feel that prices are outrageous that someone would pay $100 for a mens haircut. Would try to start a boycott of the salon in order to force them to reduce prices?

i'm not the one saying 'boycott' ... i'm saying that the reason that there may be some distress over prices is that while some sp's provide GREAT service (and that includes their attitude) at any price, there are an unfortunate number whose services (particularly their crappy attitude) is over-valued at any price.

however, to use your analogy, if i go to the $100 salon i do expect better service than i would from the $8 barber shop ... and if i get $8 service from the $100 salon i will not be any happier than i am about some of the experiences i have had with sp's.

and it is the experiences with the good sp's who REALLY make the others look bad at any price.

You are right. You should be right in expecting better service at the higher price salon. But thats not always the case.
Would you go to the salon without doing research? Wouldnt you search the net for reviews? Ask friends for referalls? And wouldnt you make sure you picked a stylist that positive reviews and seemed to fit the criteria of what to expect.

BUYER BEWARE!

Words to live buy. Continuing on the salon example. There could be a stylist working at this high end salon who has great advertising for herself. She looks great. She talks a great game. But you dont do any research. You plunk down the money and when its done you have some funky assed haircut that you couldnt be caught dead in at work. You pay, leave the salon and got to your $8 barber and get a great cut.

The point is that price is NOT an indicator of quality or service. (Maybe it should be, but its not.)
This applies to many goods and services. How many times have you gone to a pricey restaurant only to be greeted with horrible service and awful food?
Or bought a more expensive model of something because you thought it would be good but it turns out to be shiit.

If you are not seeing an SP because you cannot afford her, what difference will it make whether you are on strike or not? Your strike seems kind of redundant.

your right westwoody.I cannot afford a Porsche,so i dont worry about it,what,s the point.

SILK ROSE,
I would like to say very well put.

For maury beniowski,
slikrosre has just wrote out the true facts for alll to see and I don't think she's acully refering to all on the board, she is refering to all who want to try and lower our prices with is strike/boycott.

TO ALL:
Our prices are our prices, we have our reasons for charging what we choose. If you can not afford a certan price, there are other opions, cheaper girls and even $20 drugies down on hastings. If you want to see a a certan lady who's price you think is two high and truly woudl like a session with her why not try to save your money instead of settling for the cheaper girl.

Why such an argument at all? It is supply and demand.

What is odd is that price differential between micros and some independents seems to have increased and service is pretty much the same. It will be interesting to watch market forces to see if micros go up or independents go down.

Like all things bought and sold, the demand side rules. If there are men willing to fork over the kinds of money some of the ladies are asking for, then the demand side has spoken. I guess if every guy in Vancouver all of a sudden said "never again satisfy that urge with more than $150" then the supply side would have a dilema...either lower the price or have excess product. However, by the same token, the supply side could decide there are lots of men out there with $250 in their pocket each time the need arises and those fishing for lower rates will find it a lonely time shopping.

In the end, supply and demand. Travel a bit and you will see Vancouver is pricey indeed in terms of many places but not bad for North America. The strangest thing about Perb coverage is the much better selection AND lower prices in Victoria than Vancouver. Market forces across a tiny width of water seems to be quite a bit different.

Debate on but doubt any of you change the basics of the economic drivers. If prices are too high, men will stop paying and when they do, prices will drop. Until that time, I agree such discussions are only stirring the pot.

I think this whole argument is stupid. This certainly belongs in Perb's Hall of subjects beaten to death.

Rockhard91, the equation is simple. You can't afford it, don't buy it. No different than purchasing vehicles, no different than purchasing real estate, in fact it's just no different than anything you buy.

Forming an alliance to drive prices down, just isn't going to do anything but insult and offend SPs. There will be always be someone out there who will pay the premium price, it's just not you. Accept it you're only embarassing yourself in the SPs eyes, anyway.

Lolita, while I agree this thread is lame you are not understanding something in your attack on Rockhard91 (I wonder what happened to the first 90 hard ones? ). You say "If you cannot afford it".....affording have nothing to do with supply and demand in many (most) cases. I am not sure what I can afford on a SP but I sure know what I will spend. There are many men with literally thousands of discretionary dollars a WEEK that will not spend more than $100 on getting laid - why? That is the value they put on it. Same token, some poor sap making only $30 an hour in some dead end job (about $20 after various taxes) will spend 10 hours of that after tax money on a romp with a stranger that lasts all of a tens of minutes. Afford? This has nothing to do with afford.

that poor fella..lol only $30 an hour :(

it has everything to do with afford..everyone makes their own decision..if "the poor sap" above spends money on a sp and is leaving himself short because of his own choices that's HIS OWN problem and NOT the problem of the one providing the service ..just my .02 cents ;)

Supply and Demand

According to conventional economic theory market price is fixed by the following mechanism:

* Demand. The demand curve D illustrates the variation of a demand Q in relation to the variation of a price P. This function is characterized by an inversely proportional curve where demand drops when the price goes up (and vice-versa). If the price of a good or service is too high (P1), the demand drops (Q1) while in the opposite situation (P2) demand grows (Q2).
* Supply. The supply curve S illustrates a variation of supply according to a variation of price P. This function is characterized by a directly proportional curve where supply increases as the price goes up. Supply grows (Q1 to Q2) when the price grows (P1 to P2) since profits would be higher.
* Price. The intersection of the demand curve D and the supply curve S represents the equilibrium price Pe where a quantity Qe of commodities will be sold. Changes in the market (moving curves D or S to the left or the right) will change the equilibrium price.

Understand the Demand Curve and the Supply Curve. Can anyone explain the Equilibrium Curve a bit more clearly?

Your confusion arises from the misunderstanding of what the equilibrium is. It is not a curve at all. It is merely the point of intersection of the supply curve and the demand curve. When both supply and demand are stable over time, then the price will be fixed at the point of intersection (as will the quantity of service provided). If either the supply or demand curvse shift because of market forces etc., then the point of intersection (and price and quantity) will change. The change is reactive to the shifts in the supply and demand curves so there will be a time delay. What's more, the shifts are premised on exchange of information (on availibility of services and etc.) so are not done with mathematical precision.

Does that help?
