On the Edmonton Board there is a thread started by Commander Chode regarding a disappointing experience with an SP and a question about whether this was contributed to by the fact that he didn't take a shower when offered (as he had showered almost immediately before seeing her). Others who visited the same SP had much better experiences. After hearing from others, he concluded:
If memory serves me right, the overwhelming result was that a shower should always be taken whenever it is offered. No exception. That way the SP is guaranteed that you did in fact shower.
Apparently, the "I've just showered" line is used often by those who really mean "within the last week or two". Also, many people shower but then put on the same clothes rather than all freshly laundered clothes. Some people don't seem to realize that their odor tends to hang in clothes. Most people are acutely aware of body odors emanating from others and from other peoples' clothes, but are almost immune to noticing it on their own clothes (until they reach the stage where they can get up and crawl across the floor on their own).
From the previous thread, and from what I've been told by an SP, its amazing how many guys will also go into the shower, turn it on and pretend to shower but not actually take a shower. A little dumb because its kind of obvious when you come out dry and the towels aren't damp! The other complaint from SPs in the thread was that some guys jump in for a quick rinse and use little or no soap.
Whenever a shower is present, the general lesson learned from the comments of the SPs on previous threads is to always take a shower and use lots of soap. If there is no soap or if the liquid soap is low, ask for some more (who knows, perhaps she removed it to test whether you're serious about cleanliness! - not that I'd encourage any SPs to do this lol). SPs also commented that often not enough attention is given by the men to certain parts of their bodies - so the lesson again is ensure that lots and lots of soap is used on those parts (and then rinse well!).
Of course, the cleanest of bodies won't do you much good if you have halitosis (bad breath). Brushing your teeth and especially your tongue, and using Listerine or whatever, just prior to an appointment also makes a world of difference. But these precautions are quickly defeated if you eat something and, especially, if you have a coffee just before your appointment. Some SPs have disposable toothbrushes and paper cups with mouthwash in their washrooms. If they do, these should be taken advantage of. For those SPs who don't, they should consider having these facilities (for their own sake).
Perception is almost always more important than reality.
It would be great to get direct input on this subject from SPs, MPAs and pooners alike - both on hygiene of pooners and of SPs/MPAs - on a thread that deals only with hygiene.
Needless to say, if you're offered a shower and she gives you oven cleaner, a full bottle of liquid soap and a brass bristled BBQ grill cleaning brush to take into the shower with you, perhaps you'll then realize why you never have a problem finding an empty seat and lots of room around you on a crowded bus in rush hour....

I recall that there was quite a good discussion in one of the Vancouver Review or Lounge sections awhile back on hygiene. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the thread because the discussion was buried within another thread.Commander Chode said:The more I think about it, the more I realize how large of a mistake not taking the offer of a shower was. It probably changed the mood for Monique but I was blissfully unaware.
You guys have almost convinced me to ask Monique for another try.
