I can't think of any good reason why you/she should!

I feel there are lots of unique names and choosing an already used name shouldn't happen but if someone really loves a particular name:

1) append it with a 'last name'
2) make it a double barrel name and add a descriptive modifier

hth's :)

More details & questions

Just to be clear that I am not planning on changing my name to the name of another SP or anything like that :p
I am just curious because I have noticed a number of SPs who have the exact same names, I can think of at least 3 or 4 local examples off the top of my head. And that is not even counting all the ones who have extremely similar names (i.e. one letter different or a short form of a longer name, etc).
Some of the time when this happens it is deliberate, but a lot of the time I think it occurs just because a new SP didn't think to research whether anyone else in her town was already using the name she chose.

Here are a couple other related questions:

- If an SP is already working under a name (say, for a few weeks or so) & then finds out that there is already another SP who has been around much longer & was already using that name, should the new SP then change her name?

- If she works for an agency should the agency change her name or ask her to change it?

- For the purpose of my poll, assume I am talking about SPs who live in the same city. But what about SPs who live in the same province, or tour to a city where there is an SP who has the same name?

I think it's fine and have no problem with it at all. Just PLEASE stay clear of any of the lame, cliche car names (Mercedes, Porche, Ferrari, Lexus, Pinto, Pacer, etc)!

An example...

This is not the reason I made this poll, but thinking about the subject brought to mind a few particular examples, including the following:

When I used to work for an agency, we had a new girl who called herself a name that was technically already being used by another SP. The established SP was using a different spelling & also had a different last name (which everyone knew her by). However, she called up the agency & asked that they immediately change the other SP's name, & they acted quickly on her request. This SP now runs an agency herself, & she has a fairly new girl employed there who is using the same name as another well-known SP. Although this has been pointed out, she has made no attempt to change it. Their menus are drastically different, as are their looks/ages, but it was the same in the aforementioned case as well, plus in this scenario the names are identical. Please know I am NOT trying to piss anyone off by pointing this out, & I purposely didn't post names so as to try to reduce drama, but it does seem a bit hypocritical to me...

Really? Do you mean that it wouldn't bother you at all if, for example, a girl in the same city with the same description (looks, measurements, age, etc) was using the exact same name as an SP you really wanted to see, who was known to have great service, & you saw her ad, thinking it was the other girl, & went to see her by mistake? And on top of that, suppose her L/A/S was far below the other SP's & what you were expecting?

Or, another example, an SP starts using the same name as your ATF & you assume she's just changed phone numbers & when she arrives at your house it's a completely different girl?

Just curious...

That would be a bait and switch. Not all people have good intentions and they do it on purpose. Names should definitely be distinguishable.

An sp with the same name, looks, age, same description and having the same ad, all in the same city and I really wanted to see her? What do you figure the odds are of that happening?

As far as your second point, if I assume instead of verify, then I deserve what I get for being an idiot

Actually, it happens frequently. As mars pointed out it is often done intentionally, as a new girl may purposely choose a name of a well-known well-reviewed SP who also looks similar to her, in order to deliberately get clients who wanted to see that girl. (Or they could lie about their description in order to have it match up with the SP they are copying).

However, I also know of a recent example in town here where a girl just happened to choose a name that was already in use, & both girls happened to have the same measurements, haircolour, ancestry, etc. So sometimes it even happens unintentionally.

I guess that's true, but some people might not have the foresight to check first, & there is also the possibility that the girl might not be the most ethical & claim to be the other girl just to get the call. (However, that kind of thing is really another issue than what I meant to bring up in this poll, I suppose).

Your question was about having the same name, not running a bait and switch, nor about running scams. If you asked if another sp used the same name as a reputable sp in the effort to rip guys off, I'm sure you know what the answer would be, but that wasn't your question ;)

I guess you wrote your reply before I amended my post with the following?

However, that kind of thing is really another issue than what I meant to bring up in this poll, I suppose.
And I did also give a recent example showing that this does happen unintentionally as well, so let's assume that something like that happened in my theoretical question to you.
Btw, I wasn't asking you to change your answer to my initial poll, just asking an additional question to you.

Listen bitch! (lol. totally j/k). Honestly, you've seen it happen once, I haven't seen it at all, so I wouldn't really have much concern over an isolated incident. It doesn't take much work to identify between two sp's of the same name. That's just me though, so I'm not saying that it wouldn't be an issue for other people.

LOL :) Fair enough. I wasn't suggesting you should be overly concerned, just asking if it would bother you if that did happen to you.

On a related topic, I have noticed that you & someone else have used the term Bait'n'Switch.
Not to be nit-picky, but I always thought that a "Bait'n'Switch" was when either:
- the photos & description are nothing like the girl who shows up
- in a MP or AMP, a hot girl comes in & takes your money, then a different (usually less attractive) girl comes in to do the actual session
- your appointment is supposed to be with a specific girl but another girl shows up

In the situation I was describing, an SP has the same name, haircolour & measurements (etc) as another. Whether she chose the name deliberately or not, is it still considered a Bait'N'Switch if she never directly claimed to be the other SP & her looks matched the description? This is not a rhetorical question, I'm actually not sure.

The way I see it, if you advertise one thing but deliver another, that is a bait and switch. So if said sp is using another sp's name in the attempt to make you think that she is that other sp, then yes, that is a bait and switch. If it is not done intentionally and without the purpose of making one think that she is the other sp, then I would call it sheer coincidence. But again, I believe in buyer beware as well. I remember at one time there were 3 "Mercedes" on CL at the same time, 2 having similar stats. As far as I'm concerned, that's when guys need to do their homework.
