This is a take from NYSmartman's thread about the conclusion to Average Joe. Why shouldn't Melana take the better looking guy? She is hot so why should she settle? Has anyone out there seen a really good-looking guy that goes after below-average girls? Rare if at all. For that matter, has anyone seen extremely wealthy guys marry older, less attractive girls? Again rarely.

My point is we are all superficial in some ways. Don't tell me if you were rich or good-looking you'd take someone less attractive or much older than you. Women are superficial, but so are men. I think it's sickening to make Melana out to be so superficial. Can you imagine a reality show with (insert famous/goodlooking/wealthy man) picking from a group of below-average, much older women? I don't think so.

here is my definition of superficial ..

you like the girl and shes known you for long time. you tell her you care for her and she knows you'd do anything for her. and you get along quite well. yet she goes and grabs the other guy that she doesnt know that well, just because hes like the picture perfect guy to her by appearance but in reality is the guy that will simply use her and break her heart. when shes known all along that she could have been happy with you.

in this case though .. that simply describes the typical average JANE. they all fall for this shit. only to prove how much smarter guys are than girls. because guys can easily trick them.

i agree with you Retired. she chose the "guy" she liked more. period. sure, Adam was smarter, richer, and generally seemed to have a warmer personality, but the pretty boy was not portrayed as a "bad" guy. he never made fun of her in the fat suit and Adam did (mostly in fun, but still he did).

if Melena chooses Adam, she is labelled a gold digger (remeber her joke that Adam was on the cover of Forbes and she said she was on the cover of financially destitute). she gets tagged as superficial for choosing the guy she was immediately attracted to, but who is not financially set and is living at home without a certain career.

women are not AS looks oriented, but they still like a handsome guy over not as hot. i also believe it is more superficial to be attracted to wealth than looks because people's looks are for the most part (excluding botox and surgeries) what they were born with.

i agree that they would never put a show on with a GQ dude and 16 heavy hitters or homelies on it. people would think it was "too" mean on the women participants. plus, most guys would not stay on the show if they did it as most guys are at least OPENLY, but honestly shallow in admitting that looks are number 1 or 2 in overall importance factors in a partner. ok, maybe as low as 3 in importance if you put personality and smarts 1 and 2 for some guys, but most guys who are good looking put looks near the top of the trait list.

we will see tonight what they do with bringing in 8 GQ dudes tonite because they are portraying them ALL as arrogant fvckers as opposed to the first one where Jason was only portrayed as a "nice, but relatively dumb, pretty boy".

Why would anyone involved in something like that be anything but superficial?
RIGHT.... never watched it but looks like I did not miss much...
