Longtime lurker and first time poster here.

I'm not a Vancouver local, but I was checking the Platinum Club website, as I'm wont to do from time to time, and saw they have posted a message stating that they have closed the business.

https://platinumclub.net/

I understand that the general sentiment on this board is that the Platinum Club is an overpriced tourist trap (and I don't dissagree), but as an occasional visitor from the US, I've always appreciated that I could get PM flight into YVR, check into my downtown hotel at around 10 PM, and still be able to get a SOG before midnight. The Swedish Touch also serves this purpose, but the rates are even higher, and they don't post a schedule online, which the Platinum Club did.

Body Rub Parlors (separate from AMPs) are a uniquely Canadian institution (there is no version of this in the US), and one that I think all Canadians should be proud of. Vancouver only has a few of these to begin with, so it's sad to see one go (and only one left in downtown Van).

I really hope someone takes over this space, and hopefully has a business model that charges closer to market rates. Also, you would have to do a massive renovation to turn the space into another kind of business, as it's essentially a bunch of bedrooms with showers in the room (this is also very Canadian and great! You never see in room showers in the US).

Fwiw, I find that Toronto has the strongest Body Rub Parlor scene, and I find Montreal to be a little overrated (there are some very visible parlors in downtown Montreal, which are all tourist traps that offer a very low/unacceptable level of service). Also worth noting that Platinum Club and Swedish Touch rates are WAY higher than the Body Rub Parlors in Toronto or Montreal (in this case I'm talking about the respectable Montreal establishments that offer proper service).

With all that being said, Vancouver has the strongest AMP scene in North America. I've had a decent level of experience visiting AMPs in Los Angeles, and there is really no comparison. Also, there seems to have been a shift over the last decade in LA from older women who look/dress like professional masseuses, and offer a HE after a therapeutic massage, to younger women who wear lingerie/dress more provocatively, offer a wider variety of services and only work at an establishment for a few weeks before moving somewhere else. LA rates are more than double Vancouver's (without even factoring in the exchange rate). And because of the legal status in the US, the vibe is way better in Van. Given the laws and level of enforcement in the US, I don't know how sustainable it is for US AMPs to have younger, hotter, scantily clad women who are clearly not masseuses, before there is some kind of crackdown. It's worth noting that a session at a US FS AMP is still cheaper than a visit to the Platinum Club, which I would only do once over the course of a Vancouver trip, and is admittedly a bit of a "first night in town" indulgence. Also, having last minute convos or texts with an agency booker or the Fox Den while you are in the Seattle airport waiting to board or trying to clear customs is not ideal.

I guess this is a long-winded way of saying that even without the Platinum Club as a "sure thing" late night option for downtown, Vancouver is still an amazing place to visit. I just hope some deep pocketed Perb member decides to take over the Platinum Club space.

I worked at platinum club for a few years. It’s the first place I worked at here in vancouver. I imagine it probably closed because Debbie retired. She’s probably in her 70s or 80s by now. And she was too smart to ever get in trouble with the angels like Brandi did. At least I hope she retired. She was a great boss and ran a very clean organized ship. Rip platinum club 💕

Platinum closed down because the lease is over and they're planning to demolish that building and making something else there. I really hope Platinum moves to a new location. So many good times there. I'll miss that place.

I don’t remember. I’ve had a lot of names over the years. Every time I’ve gone to a new place, somebody is there with the name that I used at the last place. It’s pretty hard keeping the same name from agency to agency. I was Madison at Swedish touch tho. Which is a name I hated hahaha

I worked at platinum club for 3 years about 15 years ago. Swedish touch for 6 months snd went independent from there. Before platinum I toured for a few years snd went all over the place. Before that, I was square and in the beginning of a very intense emotional career

now you guys know my life story hahaha

Fair enough. I don't think we've crossed paths. I started going to Platinum and The Touch since 2017. The Touch did close down for two years and then reopened. I hope the same happens for Platinum.

Platinum Club was one of Vancouver's 3 Original Bodyrub licenses along with Touch and Club Eden on Denman. It was originally called Paris Place. Has been at that location since the 1970s. They had a fire there around 1999 or more exactly the fire started in adjacent building, there was heavy smoke damage, was closed for 18 months before occupany permit was reinstated. Saw some very pretty girls there in the late 90s. Downtown had at least a dozen spas. Any word on relocation ? Sad its gone.

The Touch closed for a Very specific reason. Cause of Covid. As did all spas. Platinum did reopen earlier. Swedish Touch was looking at relocating.

Its been five months. No word on any relocation and the city is planning on demolishing that building. Looks like Platinum is gone for good.

There is enough market in Vancouver for a top end spa downtown. What about 595 Hornby, can they not have a second spa in there ? I believe a couple floors are still vacant, isn't the Third floor that was the Conference floor vacant ? They had a BDSM show in there once. I know Touch may be against another spa moving into building however I look at it this way. Brandis is open only on weekends, when open they send business downstairs. Two spas in same building can actually generate more business for each other. In Toronto they have two spas in same complex. Two spas at 595 Hornby ? The spa might have to be under another name, I know when Paris Place moved they changed name to Platinum Club which started in 1996 ? Or was Paris Place also on 426 Homer ? So many spas back then, Madame Cleos, Club Eden, Comfort Zone, Mataharis
