just wondered if anyone would be interested in posting pictures that have changed the way people look at things, or emote poweful emotion. I have always loved a great photo for the emotion it can bring out.

totally agree with ya lisa, the pic is great, not only for the erotic-ness of it, but for the intimacy it represents. It's what we all search for.

and thanx westwoody.

these series of pic's changed the way the US occupation of Iraq has been viewed:

"The world will note that the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a military base. That was because we wished in this first attack to avoid, insofar as possible, the killing of civilians. But that attack is only a warning of things to come. If Japan does not surrender, bombs will have to be dropped on her war industries and, unfortunately, thousands of civilian lives will be lost. I urge Japanese civilians to leave industrial cities immediately, and save themselves from destruction."

President Truman speech.

also the yank flag raising on iwo jima, and almost any picture ever taken of terry fox during his run.

It's spelled "Reichstag"

I used to think that this was a powerful symbol of triumph over tyranny and all that. Now I just think about all the death, the rapes, the murders. A horrible time in human history and not something that the Russians or anybody else should be proud of (IMHO).

I think this is a more positive image. The "new" Reichstag in the capital of the united Germany. I always thought it was quite interesting that when they did the redesign and built the new dome, they kept the bullet marks and some of the Russian grafitti on the front of the building.

The inscription on the building is "Dem Deutschen Volk" (The German People).

This is what the old Reichstag looked like, circa 1910. Most of it was destroyed. That's why they rebuilt it with the new modern dome after reunification.

Here's my pick. The original election posters from the 1994 South African national election. "A better life for all." It doesn't get a hell of a lot more inspirational than that, now does it. Particularly if you know even a little bit about what happened in that country between the 1950s and the 1990s.
