Of sorrow in me stemming from being raised by a dysfunctional family , This sorrow also has made me have a deep longing to know the truth about existence

Before we can answer the question "What is the purpose of life?", we have to answer the question "What is life?". Don't read the following post unless you are ready to have your mind blown:

I've read up on this before. It's very interesting and I'll say even possible. However, it doesn't really change anything for any of us, does it?
I've studied a fair amount of science, conspiracy theories and ancient history. My thoughts?
We were gentically created by someone/ something else rather than natural selection or whatever created/ caused all other animals on Earth.
We, as humans, or some other entity use to live on Earth and were far more advanced than we are today.
We often think of ourseleves and perhaps other animals as single, living beings. Truth is we are not. Every person is a community of organisms invloved in symbiotic relationships, each presumably benefitting or gaining something for itself from the collective.
God? Perhaps, but I don't believe God is what most people think. I believe what most people attribute to a God is more likely a group of highly advanced beings. For conspiracy guys, think Anunnaki. I think whatever God may be is well beyong our understanding of anything.
I could kill the entire day on this topic.

Philosophical Answer

Our purpose is to become the next god.

It will take awhile. We are the first species to think about these things.
Before humans became self-aware, life was just an endless series of orgasims trying to survive, and multiply. Eveything else in the cosmos decays due to entropy (although star and planet formation seem to buck the death rule for a bit). But life thumbs its nose at entropy and produces ever more complex higher ordered life forms. This is the god-stuff at work. So our purpose is to be a small cog in an eternal wheel of higher order development.

Eventually life will either exterminate itself or become capable of generating new realities or re-birthing in new dimensions before the cold grip of space-time completes the big bang life-cycle. If the universe is destined to expand and fizzle out eventually, then it our destiny to generate a new bang or find the portal. If the big crunch is inevitable, then we gotta figure out and influence what comes through the other side.

When a species learns EVERYTHING about the true nature of existence, then the simulation is over and they become the new god. Hopefully they will be a benevolent non-interventionalist like our current god, setting up an amazing situation for us to explore and evolve, to live and die, to procreate and progress, but get the fuck out and let the simulation run its course.

BOOM!

There is no one answer to this. It is the search for the answer that takes you on a journey of self discovery.

The Meaning of Life by Monty Python.

Religions have been trying to answear this for people since humans began to think, the penultimate question is what they are trying to explain. That's why there are so many religions that try to explain our existence.

The searching for something more than just the toils and tribulations of everyday life. Soul Searching...

What is the meaning of life?

Life inherently has no meaning other than it exists; therefore the meaning of life is to put meaning into life.

Do you believe in god?

God as in the "invisible spaghetti monster in the sky" telling you that you'll go to hell for doing a thing he doesn't like? Or God being the personification of your own instincts?

I personally go to sps because I have a lot of sorrow in me stemming from being raised by a dysfunctional family , This sorrow also has made me have a deep longing to know the truth about existence

So instead of seeking an SP, why not build a real relationship, a real marriage, have babies and raise them? And do it better than how your parents raised you?....that in of itself is 'meaningful'.

What is the meaning of life ?

I don't know. Great question though. I've spend a significant amount of time in my life pondering that exact question... I still don't know. Maybe us humans don't have the intellectual capacity to fully understand...?

Something worth a mention... I thought finding an answer to that would fill a void in my life, but what actually made me finally feel complete, or pretty damn close to feeling complete, was finding meaning in my own life.

I’ve thought about marriage but I’ve never seen to many healthy marriages , I’m not sure if it’s worth the risk
