Come on....I can't be the only one with a pet.

A couple days back I was out with my guy at the beach....lady in her late 20's early 30's asks if she can pet my dog. She spent about 5 minutes with him, petting him, scratching back, just generally getting giving and getting all the lovin' one can with an animal that is just passing by. When she finished she just said, thanks I needed that....and she was on her way.

Reg self isolating....no, not because of being petted by a stranger.

We call it our "doggie fix". There has been a dog in a large part of my life, and we lost our last one a couple of years ago, and he is missed. It is not unusual to ask about a dog encountered on our walk - "Is he friendly?" A positive response means some ear scratching and petting (of the dog, stupid) and we go on our way somewhat happier.

15 year old mutt

Our mutt and I spend close to two hours out walking in the forest every day, an hour or so early in the morning, and again in late afternoon. Friends often join us, mostly to spend time with the dog.

The dog is doing her bit to keep us and some of our friends sane during this pandemic response. Well, as close to sane as we ever are, anyway.

I had a purebred great dane, but have also now taken in 3 strays as well, so they have a good home. Dogs are amazing, and the only thing better than 1 or 2, is having 4. They have all seen the vet, and had their shots. All the shots actually, because who knows what the 3 strays ever had, or didn't have.
They are really awesome, and since I live on an acreage, they have tons of room.

Ours came from the SPCA in Victoria, but she's originally from Northern BC, where the SPCA picked her up as an abandoned puppy a few weeks old.
