Any baseball fans want to chime in on Charlie Hustle.

He's been blacballed for 20 some years. Murderers get more leniency.

I don't think his moral transgressions can outwegh what he did on the field.

Let him back into baseball, at least let him into the HOF.

Keith Olbermann did a good piece recently about how MLB allows him to take part when it serves their purpose ($) such as the all century team, but if old Pete tries to make a buck they freak out.
A bunch of old players set up booths around the HOF to sell autographs, Pete can't even do that. Chickenshit, if you ask me.

In Cooperstown, Pete sets up camp at a friend's place and sells more autographs than anybody.

If ever there was a time to re-instate him, it is today as the ASG is being played in his hometown.

He has paid for his "crime".

right here and now
So many baseball traditionalists and "authorities" ( can you say DP on TSN 1040?) rant on about how Rose continually lied about his involvement with gambling- and only came clean to sell his books and cash in- and use that as the excuse to keep him out of the HOF.
Big fucking deal. Pete was the most prolific hitter in the game, played with heart, was a demon on the base paths and was a very solid defensive talent in his prime.
Enough already with all of the back-room old boys bullshit, hidden agendas and bruised-ego tripe.
Pete Rose should be in the HOF. Period.

Why not, they turn a (selective) blind eye to mass steroid use.

Pete Rose didn't get the nick name 'Charley Hustle' for nothing.
Probably the most intense competitive player in baseball ever! Mabel the most competitive in any sport.
So what if he gambled a bit. The guy never bet against his own team or against himself. Never threw a game. Mabey some inside knowledge of injuries on other teams, but for what they were making back then I'm sure his info was as good as anyone else's. He should be in the hall of fame.
Take a look at the guy in his playing days. It's not like he was taking some sort of injection or popping some exotic pill...
I don't even like to watch or keep track of major baseball anymore.
I like to play though.

I agree with wanna try. He didn't bet the spread on his own games. And if he bet on his team to win, all the better! He was putting his money where his mouth was. Michael Jordan , tiger woods both are big time gamblers, but they were never blackballed like rode. Let him in the HOF.

My other beef is Roger Maris isn't in the HOF.

WTF? He ruined his health and was threatened for breaking Ruth's single season HR record, and he did it the old fashioned way on beer and cigarettes.

Plus, I think he won two gold gloves.

hard to understand Maris not being on HOF.breaking Ruth's HR record alone s/b enough,I'd think?

regardless of the kind of person Rose is,how can the all-time hits leader not be in?it's true, once he became mgr of the Reds in 1984 he could, and did, put himself
in the line-up everyday, probably to the detriment of his team, but he'd've had the record even without that advantage.

If he ever gets reinstated, he still may not get voted in. A large percentage of writers who vote for the HOF could vote against him. Baseball HOF is the toughest Hall to get in. Some players that had good numbers have been past over in the past and are no longer on the ballots.

He is not in it for the same reasons Barry Bonds, Mark Mcgwire, Jose Canseco, Roger Clemins, and many others are not in it: He broke the rules. The only difference being that his 'sin" did not contribute to his performance, but it was more of a character flaw.

I am not certain of this, but I believe that he has been out of baseball for so long that he might need to be voted in by the Veterans' Committee, and they are more picky regarding whom they admit to the Hall.

Nobody gives a damn about the local sports media in this town.

They are nothing but a bunch of a**wipe Canuck flunkies/homers.

Quite frankly, this city is as brain dead as Toronto when it comes to their hockey teams and sports in general.

The Hall of Fame is a farce anyway, so if he is or isn't elected to it is unimportant.
