Not trying to stir the pot but how can you claim being poor when you don't owe any money and own everything outright? Like assuming you have a diesel truck? Tractors and other farm equipment? The land and associated houses and barns?
Perhaps I missed something, but there's no claim to be poor in the sybian post you quoted.

I wouldn't give up my life for anything I suppose......
I don't live by another's leave, and own everything outright, no boss giving me shit, no time clock to punch, and never drew a breath of fresh air that wasn't free.
On the other hand I wouldn't do these long hours for anyone else, and weekends are meaningless.....my mistakes are costly and can turn into years of correction, but even they are my own.
It does have its moments.
And for that, I thank you! Couldn't do it myself and wish there was more support to farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and the like. And a little more regulation against big companies who squeeze those folks (Monsanto, chicken and beef distributors, etc) and make it even harder than it needs to be.

Off topic pet peeve: corporations driven solely by profit without concern for long-term health/benefits of society and people who oppose regulations that would help on that front.

<rant over, thanks for listening!>

Thank you MO......Damaged is referring to a quote I wrote earlier, about raising food for a nation ,for enough money to starve your family.
It is true I don't owe a damn thing to no Bank.......but that same bank will look at my financials and ask were all the money I make is?.......Its invested in my entire place, then they will only give a line of credit on 15 acres and my home, because they don't like the fact that the other 430 acres and half million in buildings , and equipment I've invested ,makes me a living.......oh and let's not forget the fact that having it paid for works against me because I have no debt with them, and they are the only Bank for hundreds of kilometres.
The same bank that wouldn't lend me the money to even start this place,......

" Building a ranch with the logs from your property, and with no visible employees is very unconventional in this day and age.....the business plan you've proposed to our manager in the -------- ------ Branch seems to be over simplified, and this Financial institution does not recognize livestock, and experience ,as a fundamental asset in the 21st century. Furthermore, holding up your hand and exposing your calluses, is not a reputable resume "

I've done it with huge risk, hard work ,and sacrifice......and then struggled to keep it all, with no benefit package, unemployment, government funding, medical ,retirement package, Employer RRSP contributions, .....fuck they won't even pave my road or put in a telephone line.......But hey! I get 600 off my property taxes every year, ....so there is that.

I have a couple of friends who are grain farmers.
They have a ton of money tied up in their operation but run on a very slim margin.
And there are wild swings in their revenue, they make a lot one year then make almost nothing next year.
One of them had to buy a new combine and it was over $200k!!
The guys I know have regular full time jobs and take a few weeks off for seeding and harvesting. They need a regular job for stability and the benefits like healthcare, optical, sick leave.

I did this once, only I used only one finger...didn't work for me either.

Not wanting to sound the way this will...but I have 3 at $500k each. Every once in a while I attend a white wine sipping party where some one talks about their fancy expensive cars and boats and other toys. I just smile and reply "that's nice."

There was a time not long ago I had 2 million in cows when beef was at an all time high.....but financial institutions don't recognize that due to its a living creature with a limited lifespan.
Every time I attend a wine sipping party, I fight off the urge to improve the quality by running the product through a still, and a hot copper line.

People that don't know the meaning of "No Trespassing" or "Private Property" and then get all out of sorts when you tell them......especially while your dog is trying to eat their dog.

Here's a pet peeve of mine - which happened to me recently:

Try to book an SP, get part way through it, then she just stops communicating. Just silence, where you don't know if the meeting is on or off, whether you should go there or stay put. Just nothing.

Now, I'm not talking about being blocked or told she won't see you for other reasons. And I'm not talking about the fact that an SP may be seeing someone else before you, and can't use her phone in the middle of that.

I mean the SP either 1) books someone else and can't be bothered to tell you, so you don't waste your time; or 2) drops off for some other reason (goes to sleep or whatever). Either way, your time and travel/preparation gets wasted.

This has happened to me a few times and it's an annoyance every time. The most recent, with a girl who I was (potentially) repeating with, who seemed to clearly want my business again.

How hard is it to text "Sorry, the time has been booked" ? Nothing isn't a negative confirmation; nothing is just nothing.

I feel EXACTLY the same way when someone requests a time, asks for details about service & my ability to take care of his needs (You have stockings & garters? You OK with high sex drive? You OK with well- endowed?) Then when I send a "Good morning. Are we still on for 3pm?" text? Radio silence at the other end.

^^ That's high on my list as well. Poor communication and disrespect.
I blame it somewhat on technology. With text and email people find it easier to ghost and think it's without consequence.

Has anyone been involved in this industry before text and email? Was it this bad before?

Yea that's just beyond rude.

I find good communication skills as big a turn on as physical attributes. It shows that she values my time. When I send an email (and it is never the "yo babe, lets do it" variety) I expect a timely reply. If I don't get an email back in a day or two I moved on. I know it is much more damaging for you ladies when clients do the same since for me the worst it means is I don't get laid that day, for you it just wastes your hours. Some people are assholes.

100% in agreement with you here. I recently found out that a HUGE number of "contact forms" on LL were going into a spam inbox. I was mortified, as I do pride myself on my timely communication. For example, when I got a text yesterday that said "Hey fatty...wanna suck dick?" I immediately responded with "Goodbye troll" & blocked it.
(Another pet peeve? People being hateful for no good reason. The world really is ugly enough already...)

Translink had announced that fares will be going up on July 1st, last fall the CEO said the compass system was a success; more users thus more revenue. So why are they bumping up fares then, i thought the gas and carbon tax was to help cover for transit.

Absolutely. I know somebody exactly like that. Disappeared in the middle of the booking process, no responses to my emails. Repeated behaviour, even though I used to be a regular and she definitely didn't mind to have me around.

Happened to me this morning too! Setup an early morning Friday mtg, no response when I texted to confirm, she texts back about 2 hrs later with apologies so I figure "shit happens, no big deal!" We reschedule to this morning and the same thing happens- send a few texts and no response.

Definitely annoying - not as annoying as when I'm on travel, however, since here I can just try an agency or wait for another opportunity in the future. But still annoying. And it was with someone I've met a couple times and knows me a bit.

Thankfully there are plenty of lovely agency and Indy women here these days! :)

On the subject of excuses, truth is always a possibility!
Erica Phoenix is the source of the best one in my experience. At the last minute, a text that read "don"t show up now - the arborists are here!"
And it was true!
My pet peeve (Perb version) is providers that say they offer dfk, but really don't.
That certainlly does not describe Ms. Pheonix.

(Fixed the spelling error for you...:D) Oh yes I remember that day fondly, as I do many days from that summer...the last summer we actually had! I miss the privacy of that home, as well as the nice big shower!
