anyone has a suggestion for a personal stock tracker that is free.
i dont want or need one for palm or blackberry , just for mine laptop.
I have just opened a scotia mcloud trading account , but cannot find a tracker that i can track other stocks i want to keep eyes on.

I use Google finance to set up "dummy" portfolios. Yahoo does this too.
They both track news feeds for your equities so you can see the latest headlines or news releases. I have some of my custom created mutual funds that are still underwater 10 years later, so much for the buy and hold strategy.

I use Stockhouse as well. Globe Investor is good for mutual funds.

For my real accounts, I use RBC Direct. You get the news and can track other stocks or ETF's etc but I don't think it will calculate them like you had purchased them in a portfolio.

scotia has one but is only for what i buy not what i want follow.

Actually, RBC Direct will calculate returns on your watchlists. If you edit a watchlist you can enter the # of shares, price and commission. Then when you look at a watchlist there are a number of tabs. One is Gain/Loss and another is Performance which gives a lot of info if you entered the initial price.
