Ok so tell me this if tolls have existed since the Roman Times and it's a user fee and whatnot...how is it that Golden Ears and Port Mann, where people use it to get to from work pay for it and yet the Sea to Sky,that was fast track for the Olympics has no tolls? If people can afford to pay $85 for a lift ticket or a couple of hundred bucks for a hotel and can afford to drive 2 hrs to play for a couple of days why don't they pay a user fee?
Well, if you don't pay, then we would all pay for it. Still costs money to employ the person cataloguing and releasing the information.
As for the Sea to Sky, there is no alternative route other than going all the way around by way of Lillooet...so there will be no toll. If you toll that route, you're charging people who live in Pemberton and Squamish as well. At least with the Port Mann, you can choose to use the Patullo or the Alex Fraser...at least until the Patullo is torn down and replaced
Pretty much, because people east of Coquitlam have other choices...other access routes. Yah, they aren't as nice as the Port Mann, but they exist.
Considering that I travel over the Port Mann, maybe 2-4 times a year and I go to Whistler/Pemberton 10-20 times a year, I'm probably biased
