Step back from the partisan positions… in 2000, the U.S. Supreme Court determined the U.S. election outcome – and now in 2004, and just beginning to surface within the mainstream media, questions about the integrity of the 2004 election process are coming forward… what is the balance between perception and reality in the eyes of an electorate so deeply divided?

Challenges from the losing side will be viewed as ‘sour grapes’ or ‘whiners prerogative’ or… but when that losing Party officially brings it forward, where it moves beyond the level of blogging discourse, it becomes a contributing influence to an electorate’s confidence in their vote being counted and in their democracy outright.

November 5, 2004

The Honorable David M. Walker
Comptroller General of the United States
U.S. General Accountability Office

Dear Mr. Walker:
We write with an urgent request that the Government Accountability Office immediately undertake an investigation of the efficacy of voting machines and new technologies used in the 2004 election, how election officials responded to difficulties they encountered and what we can do in the future to improve our election systems and administration.
.
.
.
We are literally receiving additional reports every minute and will transmit additional information as it comes available. The essence of democracy is the confidence of the electorate in the accuracy of voting methods and the fairness of voting procedures. In 2000, that confidence suffered terribly, and we fear that such a blow to our democracy may have occurred in 2004.

Signed: John Conyers – Ranking Member House Judiciary Committee / Jerrold Nadler – Ranking Member Committee on the Constitution / Robert Wexler – Member of Congress

It's all there - the Registered voters, the expected votes, the actual results and the percentage changes… showing statistically significant differences between counties using E-Touchscreen versus Optical Scanning machines.

Look at the Percent Change columns - notice how the percents vary much more widely in the Optical Scan counties versus the E-Touchscreen counties.

Caused by… anyone?… anyone?… waiting… waiting…
