How well do you think Perb represents the pooning scene in vancouver/edmonton respectly? Are we just tip of the ice-berg or do we actually made up a good portion of the scene? The reason that I wanted to know, is that I am curious how a bad review will hurt a girl's business...

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that PERB can greatly (and sometimes negatively) impact an SP's business. The evidence is with the results of one good review and the thread being over run with lurkers sending PMs or writing a post asking for the contact information. I'm sure you've seen it and perhaps you've been affected by it by not being able to book an appointment cause the SP is in too high a demand or her rates increase because she's turning away clients. I think a negative review can also impact a lady, but not with the same power of a positive review. I think a positive review will bring more guys out of the woodwork who are looking for a gem or good deal or great service as opposed to the negative review warning guys who probably weren't going to call that SP anyways.
If you're worried about writing a negative review and possibly hurting an SP's business... don't worry about it. Just be honest and write your review, positively or negatively. If it's just one negative review of an SP with a good reputation a lot of guys will take it with a grain of sand and write it off as YMMV. If it's another negative review of an SP with poor service or is a WOT then you're helping out by pointing out the bad SP's... and that's what PERB should be all about.

The posters on PERB represent a tiny speck of the overall pooning scene in Vancouver and Edmonton. The people who read PERB represent a much larger but still insignificant speck of the overall scene.shak said:
As long as a SP diversifies her advertising, ie online and various print ads, I don't think a bad review will have a significant impact on a girl's business. There are SPs who have been getting bad reviews on PERB and its predecessors for years ie Selena, Shawna, etc. and they are still in business so they must be getting customers
I wonder how providers see perb vs other advertising sources.
In some cities, both in the U.S. and Canada, providers that advertise both in newspapers and are active on review boards tell me usually their best informed clients come from the Internet and don't ask all the dumb questions and are less likely to be no shows vs from newspaper ads.
Obviously this is a generalization and not always true but overall it might be a reasonable observation.

I don't think this board has much effect on this business. Even members here are just as likely to get a bad deal, in spite of all the warnings that have been written. What affects this business more are the economy, boredom with the status quo, curiosity, horniness, the moon, level of income, alcohol, and a few others I can't think of at this moment.
