Well it is not alien 5!

I was hoping for more then what the trailers showed but that was about it all the best parts we saw..

As for story .. there was none that was developed ..If they had just stayed on one of the themas and developed some charters .

I was longing for some good SF and even with all the elements ,some good hardware ,accept for the cheap flame throwers ( WTF) ,

But it left me empty and feeling lost in space ..

I get tired of this lack luster approach to acting that many directors have be putting out lately , every one acting like it is a walk in the park , dressed like skater boys and girls , and as dumb as door nobs . The costume designer did not know what they were doing .. Like i said we have urban casual and a hike in the wood , and then there is .. some Mouist Chines stab at a uniform ..

What seem to be for gotten .. is the awe and wonder of this momentous event .. .
They travel for 2 yrs in crio sleep to find our makers .. and then they act like a bunch of kids .

There is no discipline in the crew, no one in charge ,,and no direction..
Where in reality, would explorers in space just jump out of there ship run off and carelessly start exploring with out security , ,and taking proper precautions about touching things . it is just unbelievable .. And the old use of guys getting separated from the group .. Fuck me .

Hopefully i have not told you to much .. , There was not much to tell , accept all that i did not like about the film .

Oh there may be a squeal :clap2:

That is because they are not explorers in space, they are a bunch of actors who probably dropped out of science class in grade 2.

Somewhere Out There
I saw it and I loved it. Guess it depends on what you are looking for. A Ridley Scott movie akin to the first "Alien" movie or a James Cameron shoot em up like he did for the sequel "Aliens".

Sorry about that i checked the spelling and every thing and then still did not see that i wrote it wrong.
I guess i was that up set with the movie:doh:

yes there all lots of good elements to the movie But ether to ambitious or he really did not know what he wanted t say .

They had t four or more ideas going at once . But did not develop them , and then they were done . I did not care what happened to any of these charters..
And what is it with the aliens trying to kill humanity all the time.. There are some people on this planet that really have a bad attitude towards there fellow man . This wish to exterminate humanity is coming from our own species not aliens

What? You cant read "oldmaxx" yet? I swear it's almost it's own language at this point. If it gets any worse we'll need an enigma machine to decode it.

PS only the other day I got complimented on being able to comprehend my writing

Watching movies require a thing called suspension of belief. The more bizarre the premise of the movie the more suspension of belief are needed.

I read that one of the Lost writers rewrote the script for the director which may explain why there are interesting plots that go nowhere...

Yes, Damon Lindelof is one of the writers of Prometheus. The thing about the movie is that it's more existential philosophy than it is a creature feature. And when a movie is more about ideas, it's more about raising questions to be pondered rather than spoon feeding an audience "answers".

I think they had to find a balance between telling the story and adressing the ideas they wanted to raise and still making the movie work as a prequel to Alien. I don't think it was completely successful at that but enough of it worked for me that I really liked it. I like a lot of the cast and the visuals were as stunning as I expected them to be from the trailers. And there were enough cringe worthy creature feature moments to satisfy that aspect of my expectations as well.

I particularly enjoyed Michael Fassbender's work in the movie. I do feel like some of the themes raised by that part of the story were similar to themes that Ridley Scott previously explored with my all time favourite movie, Blade Runner. But that's a hardly a bad thing. More like variations on a theme than a retread, if that makes sense.

I can understand some of the complaints that have been mentioned in this thread. I just feel like I was more engaged by it than the ones who didn't enjoy it.

I love existential Philosophy MM an yes they had some great premiums that i have engaged my mind in many time That makes good SF.. One or two would of been find ..

But lets see there .. was the one about where do we come from.. who is our maker.. But from the opening scene it did not look like they were here to create life on this planet .. but that it was created by and act of murder .. The Cain and able effect .. and then the God might not be happy .. But nothing in the story said why ,, There was evidence that they visited use all through history and left a map to this one planet .. when we got there . then it is time to kill man kind . The dooms day planet

Then there was what is birth and life .. and death .. that was asked by the android and maybe longed , And Shaw the women that started this quest . she long to give birth to new life .. but when one here chose .. not of alien origin , If a women knew her own child would destroy the world would she end its life as quickly as Shaw did .

And that is farther explored in the relationship between the old man that funded this space mission and his daughter .. and even his relationship with the android
Who was more his son and eire , more then his own daughter .. They were all self centered in their own world oblivious to any other danger .

Then there was the pilot and his crew who w with out much said about who they were and why other then the pay , but they were the unknown men and women that sacrifice them selves for the greater good .. Others were just there to be corpses for the lack of plot .( there were 17 people on that ship i only could count 15 ).One thing to be said is the androids seem to have a second life ..

As for the makers .. They sure did not show very much intelligence They .. are single minded in purpose .. not the sign of a people that want to create new life but are selfish of there own .. definitely we got there traits But then they are victims their own weapon ,, which was not explored at all ..

As for being a prequel , not to sure . I know that the ship they brought down was not the one found in " Alien" because there the pilot was dead in his seat ,He had given birth to creature . most likely a queen.. about all they showed here about the dooms day weapon is that .. it could alter DNA in to many different forms depending on the host .. and it did evolve .. Was this even the same planet ? I don't think so. So it still does not explain the message that the crew in Alien investigated .. Was it from Shaw to tell man to stay away , was it from the makers to tell their own kind to stay away

All I can say is this does not compare to the first Alien or Bland Runner ... to superior movie

PS. I still have not seen the final to Lost and real have very little interest to .. our first impression was right It was purgatory and then they make up a bunch of BS that may of bee some interesting SF ideas But not for as long as they dragged on for..

Saw it. Hated it. Really really unimpressed.

Also saw Snow White and the Huntsman- enjoyed it despite Kirsten Stewart playing the lead (can't stand her- no acting skills!). But Charlize was top notch, fairly well done. Had to go see something else- anything else, to cleanse my movie self after Prometheus... gah!
The only thing good about Snow White was Charlize's acting - otherwise the movie was childish, predictable, full of the usual cliches, unfunny, undramatic, and boring. I think it was aimed at the teenager.

Haven't seen Prometheus, but I suspect it would appeal to those who like to think. That's no guarantee I'd like it though, because I heard that it's half-baked in that department.

Yes Snow White . I like that a lot better . Charlize.s was worth watching in that .. when she is given some thing to work with she is a good actress Prometheus had a few moment for Charlize to act but the rest was a walk on role .

Of course Snow white was predictable We all know the ending .. But they did a good job .

Of course my favorite Snow white is a German porn version it has every thing in it

ironically, after seeing Promethus on Friday, I saw the best film of 2012 (thusfar): Moonrise Kingdom.

and I have her that Charlize is the only saving grace in Snow White and the Huntsman. She was good in Promethus but Oscar worthy in Young Adult (along with Patton Oswalt who in that 'Seeking A Friend at the end of the world' film with Steven Carrell and Kiera Knightly .. too lazy to go to imdb).

will see Rock of Ages this weekend. Despite Tom Cruise, it has a wonderful cast (look, CZJ is back!).

Charlize Theron

The last couple of weeks has been great :high5: for the beautiful Charlize Theron with two of her movies performing splendidly in the box office. " Snow White " reigned supreme last last weekend and " Prometheus " was 2nd last weekend with $ 50 Million. Not often does a second placer have that big of a gross in years. If you include international gross and marketing expenses - both " Snow White " which costs $ 170 Million to make and " Prometheus " $ 130 Million have already broke even by now and will be providing a good ROI for their respected studios. Especially Snow White's Universal whose poorly written " Battleship " surely tanked. The tweet of your favorite courtesan is probably longer than the script of " Battleship ". lol Anyways, nice to see Charlize's movies continue to do amazing money-wise.

Don't get me wrong, I was a big fan of Lost and by extension the writers Lindelof and Cuse. After watching 6 seasons of Lost, I just think that Lindelof is much better at asking the questions than answering them. I think the people who watched the movie belong in one of two camps, one that wanted a sci-fi horror thriller - a true prequel to Alien. The other camp wanted a more philosophical movie exploring our existential crisis. The movie tried to be both and ended up being neither, with disappointed audience who belong to one or the other camp, much like 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner...

I really enjoyed that read . I never knew the old mythology ...
Definitely understand it in that contexts.. sacrifice for new life .. but Jesus scarifies was also for new life . , spiritual new life and and to redeem our sin full nature to God..And then you can go in to the whole analogy of god the father , god the son god the spite .. the Christian God in one of love and well coming the return of the way ward son .. Not the punisher or destroyer as in the Hebrew text . I would say that is Satan , Lucifer the devils job , but that is not true ether . Satan is free will and the rejection of Gods will .. We wish to control out own lives and create in our own image . Thus we end up with monsters and destruction of our own making ..

For the engineers want to destroy mankind for killing Jesus is off the mark Jesus was a willing sacrifices to save mankind from the wrath of GOD as is the sacrifice of those in the movie .
I can see where Gods people the engines have there heaven destroyed by the thoughts and will of the fallen . A child's innocents lost . For the god are the children and now they go into a childish temper tantrum and want to destroy those that don't agree , they want it their way ...

I have always see the God of Mythology as Children , not get there way .. and definitely not deserving of any worship , for bad behavior .
