I saw 7-Eleven ad last week for a prepaid phone for $100, 20 cents/min anytime and the fund expires in 365 days. I don't think any other companies can beat that. Having said that, I didn't read the fine print.

Luckily, there is a plethora of choices out there now. And now the pre-paid options have many sub-options as well now. You can have 30 cent/min or if you use lots $1/day and 5 cent/min, etc,etc...

Two of the more popular ones are Fido and Virgin mobile.
Check out the websites at www.fido.ca and www.virginmobile.ca

And they always have deals (eg. buy this phone and get 100min free etc, etc).

I have Rogers pay-as-you-go (PAYG). $100 for 365 days. All day rate $.25 per min for first 5 min and 15 min per min after that. Between PAYG users only the caller pays. PAYG includes all added charges exept 911 and GST. Other plans usaully add up to $7 per month for access fees etc.

I am with Telus. Cards are purchased in 10, 25, 50.00 amounts. $50.00 gives you over 3 hours, so I usually purchase 2 $50.00 cards at a time for over 6 hours of airtime at .25/cents a minute. I spend $100/month and 6 hours lasts a long time if your not a babbler...LOL
