If you don't know I hate fukkin cell phones. Boycotted them for the last 3yrs now. But the times they are a changing. I got/need/should/can't beat'em join'em get a cell phone again.

Seems like Telus has the best over all deals on Family Plan phones. Fido doesn't seem to offer family plans and Rogers web site gives me a fukkin head ache it's so vauge and usless on information.

But the other option is to fukk the plan idea and go pay as you go. Spend the initial $200-$300 for a fukkin phone and be done with it. Telus has (on the other hand) some decent looing phones for $50 2 for 1 when you lock into a 3yr plan. Holy fukk 3yrs!!! But where am I going, nowhere so 3yrs just seems like a long time.

The point here is what are you all doing as far as cell phones go?!?!?!

last time I was in the market for a pay as you go phone I went with Virgin (bell network), thought their deal was the best

for contracted phones have always been with either telus or bell (rogers can lick my crusty asshole) and never really found much of a difference in rates

I've been exactly were you are until a couple of months ago. I never owned a cell phone until this Christmas, and prior to that my wife was on a month to month. But since I'm pretty sure I'm always going to want one I did sign up for the Telus two year plan and received two cell phones as part of the deal. Funny thing is where I signed up, they contacted Telus to confirm that I was qualified for this deal and Telus wanted to nix it. I said WTF, I've been paying the bills regularly and hardly use the damn thing, what's the problem. Turns out the "problem" was my wife never used the phone enough and they weren't able to make any auxillery revenues off of us for roaming charges etc. Anyway, we finally got approval, but it took over an hour. I almost walked out over this whole thing.

Pay as you go phones don't have detailed lists of phone calls sent to your door. ;)

Unless you know how much you are going to use the phone, I wouldn't get into a lengthy contract.

Just make sure you try the fuckin' fone before you buy it. Some of those POS fones are so small, or the design is so screwed, that you need a gawdam toothpick to hit the numbers properly when you dial on the thing. And voice dialing is for dress-wearing nancylads...

Pay as you go codes

Just wanted to say I really got annoyed with the codes you need to get and enter to add time to your pay as you go phone. I guess it depends on your usage. I got fed up with finding places that sold the right cards and went onto a contract.

In a nice wet pussy!
I use Virgin, who are actually backed up by Bell Mobility. The selection of phones is not that great, but it's a phone after all, not a computer. The phones are well priced, and my pay-as-you-go plan costs 40 cents a day, plus 10 cents per minute after that. If I go out of town, I reduce the plan so there is no daily minimum charge. There's no connection fee, no call waiting fee, no call forwarding fee, and no voicemail fee. I'm happy with it and with my calling habits, the whole thing costs about 30 bucks per month, compared with the contracted rate I had with Rogers previously of $50-$60 per month. I also gave up my land line with Telus saving me another $50 per month. Land lines are completely redundant nowadays and are merely a vehicle for telemarketers, overdue parking fine collectors, government hacks and anybody else you don't like, to access you. They can use the mail for all I care; I enjoy recycling their drivel...

Rogers / Fido

I have the FIDO / Rogers plan which is $ 45.00 all you can use anytime anywhere. Unlimited incoming, unlimited outgoing. NO LISTINGS OF TELEPHONE CALLS. They only list the telephone calls that are long distance.
If you are going to use 1000 + minutes a month, I think this is the best plan.
