Passports!!! Fast????

Which in your experience is the fastest way to get a new passport.
Mail? In Person?
Are there still long line-ups?

Any advice would be helpful. I am not in a big rush,but want it early next year.

I believe in person is the way to go, and I think you have an option of express mail for the returning passport. At least if you go in person, you know they got it and that it is in the works right away. Monday or Tuesday probably better than Fridays. Make sure you have EVERYTHING with you ready to go. I doubt the lineups are what they used to be, but I also doubt it will be fast. It's a government office after all.

You can pay extra when you are in person and get your passport within 24 hours, otherwise they mail it to you and it can take up to 2 weeks but I just got mine in 1 week.

yup they have rush orders too. i had to rush and with proof i was flying off at a certain date, they made my passport within appropriate time

I was doing it in Calgary and came earlier - 30 minutes before the office was supposed to open according to the website - to make sure I was early in the line (about 8 am instead of 8:30 the official opening time).

Guess what? Apparently, the office was unofficially already open, I was the first person there and I was in and out in 10 minutes.

I did the 10-day, pick-up option (pick-up also took 10 minutes, 3-4 people in the line in the middle of the day). But I know they do offer 24 hours for about $70, as far as I remember. All if this is found on Passport Canada website.

Do it in person

Make sure you have all of your information and everything filled out properly. Do not let them mail it to you, pick it up when it is ready. I had mine in less than ten days in Edmonton.

Dropping it off and picking it up is the way to go.

If you fill in the information online you get a different number when you go in. When I went there was a line out out the door and they called me less than five minutes of getting there because I did the online thing. I showed them my departure date (2 weeks later) and they got my passport to me in a week.
