Does amnyone have any tips for parking in the West End, particularly in the South West quadrant of that neighborhood, during the day on weekdays?
And does anyone know how long you can park in Stanley Park -- is it limited to 2 hours, or can you buy more than that at one time?

If you're lucky you may find parking on the samll streets leading to Stanley Park from Denman or on streets parallel to the park.

Good luck. I used to live there for several years and it was a PITA for me then. There really isn't anything decent. You can likely get away with using the Safeway parking for maybe an hour or so. But if yer after 2+ hours, I can't help ya. Forget anything within 3 blocks of the Macaroni Grille on Davie Street after 6pm. Valet's own that area. Denman Mall on Denman Street has pay parking. Probably yer best bet.

Check the signs carefully but I was able to find a spot with no restrictions in front of a building that looked like it belong on a Prime Time soap opera. I think a restaurant is also nearby. Forgot the street it was years ago.

re: west end ... check some of the hotels, they often have pay parking attached to them and you can pay and park and walk ... but it might be cheaper to skytrain to Granville and walk or cab ...

re: stanley park ... if you can find it, park by the Aquarium ... you can pay for more than two hours but again, good luck finding a spot.

if you need to move stuff using your car, you are still better off to park your car someplace, get a cab and transfer your stuff and go from there ...

You can park at the Blue Horizon at 1225 Robson, it has public parking.

Stanley park can go up to 4 or 6 hours IIRC, just have to feed more Twonies to the machine. Rates and times vary depending on the time of year. You might be able to park along English Bay somewhere as well.

Tips For Herb

OK ... if you are looking for a long term thing try posting an add on some of the community bulletin boards.

renting a residential space is pretty cheap compared to public lots. usually 40 to 60 dollars per month.

if this is just a passing thing then you can park in other areas of downtown and bus, taxi or walk to your destination.

if you do find a spot in the area you need ... the only thing i can recommend is OBEY THE RULES!!!!!! ... or not ... i still laugh everytime i see a tow truck driving down the street with the offending car's alarm blaring ...
