Actually it is "pork barrelling" at it's finest...and it comes as no surprise to me with consideration to BC provincial politics....remember "bingogate"?....or perhaps "hydrogate"? and the list goes on and on.....this also extends to federal politics...how long of a waiting list was Jack Layton on before he got his hip replaced.....I imagine it was a pretty fucking short one.....the only difference between the graft/kick-backs/priveledges/pensions that our provincial/federal elected officials get over the same things that a despot such as Marcos is that we freely and democratically elect our governments and then those fuckers line up to the trough like pigs and eat all they can while they have the chance....in Canada if you lose an election you are out of the game...you dont get to seize/steal public money....if you are voted back in or win the election(for your seat) then the scoffing goes on....with expense accounts/travel accounts/paid apartments and on and on.....the only difference is that the politicians of ALL parties...both federal and provincial have made it this way through the course of time......you can bet your ass that John A MacDonald & William McKenzie King did not get a solid gold pension plan....but a lot of pencil pushing dog-fuckers after them did.It's a "Headhunter" job like the last two I've had. Christy needs someone smart, capable and trustworthy to do a full-press media sales job. So do you hire John the PSAC member who thinks that a phone book is just as good as a Roledex - or do you hire Pamela Martin who has the personal and cellphone numbers for everybody that matters?
Public servants such as MP's/MLA's get paid enough for their meagre work load.....why should they get a golden ticket upon retirement when the average Canadian makes a fraction whilst working harder and under harsher job demands.

Another take on it is the results of the most recent federal election....the NDP split the leftist vote and obliterated both the Bloc and the Liberals in Quebec.....and when it comes down to it the youngest candidate that was elected was 18....an 18 year old know nothing now gets a cushy job for 4 years as well as expense accounts etc as well as the MP pension plan and he knows jack shit.....ask the guy why the GST first got implemented as well how it was done as the house was split 50/50 and he would have no clue....just another pig at the trough gulping down tax dollars.Thats just it SR, its not an elected position,yet its public funds now paying her salary?
Fuck I so I wish I had 3 million dollars so I could live in a "3rd world" paradise like Thailand....a country that I could not care about the politics but know that if I ran into a problem a quick bribe would take care of the situation.....sadly in Canada....once somebody is elected they dont get bribed...what they get is a dip into the party bag of goodies that the tax payers foot the bill for....but it is done under the guise of democracy.....the only worse example is USA politics.

Well the federal gov't takes in $200 billion annually to run government.Over $9 billion annually to the dept. of indian affairs! I guess in the grande scheme of things, her $130 grande is a drop in the bucket.Having said that,all those drops do eventually fill up that bucket.I really hope another right ring party appears in this province,it's about the only thing that will keep the libs some what honest.

Gee, the great money mangers strike again. Our beloved provincial government is more broke than they expected because, even though natural gas prices have been in the toilet for 4 years, they just discovered this and their projected $1 billion will be about $700 million short and they have to cut spending.
They can start by canning Pamela (does anyone know what the fuck she does, anyway?), stopping the pointless trips to China, cutting their pensions, actually sitting in the Legislature this fall to earn their money (that new cabinet all get raises, but won't sit to answer questions), cancelling the ridiculous contract for consulting (at the incredible rate of $250,000 per year!!! for the "retired" clerk of the Leg), cutting management and severance packages at ICBC, Hydro, Ferries, Health, Translink, and firing gum chewing Sara.

I think a goody portion of all these pay outs to people that are not really doing any useful job , is just to keep them quite .. They no something or to much so just put them on the pay roll indefinitely.. That is the way it work in Canada .. Bribes and black mail pay out right in front of every ones nose ,, and we pay it.
