I need to paint the house - any problems with doing it in this hot weather? Does the heat affect the paint job?
Yes, wait until it's a little cooler or else you will wind-up exhausted from the heat and a paint job that turns out crappy.

The ideal temperature for painting is between 15 to 25 degrees. Too cold, the paint won't go on smoothly. It also won't dry and properly adhere to the surface you are painting. Too hot, the paint bakes rather than dries. Your paint job will look like crap and start to peel within a short period of time. You will also want to avoid painting in direct sunlight. Best bet if you want to do some painting now, paint for a a few hours first thing in the morning so that the paint has sufficient time before it gets hot or in the evening when the temperature has cooled off a bit.

Any painters that you could recommend in the GVRD? I want to get my place done up, just don't want to do it on my own, thanks!

I am going to be disagreeing with you about Ben Moore material. I have used all the major labels and found each to have good and bad products. But the bottom line is that you will be paying considerably more for BM than any other paint, and that is due to a very very effective ad campaign. Not because of the superior quality of the paint.

i,m not a pro painter , but have done my share.
i,m not sure how ben moore will stand up , however while i was applying it , i was amazed at how nice it was to brush on. it was exterior of my house .
No problems with you or the fact you like the material. I am a painter by trade and have used BM on many jobs......I just don't feel it is the best. To be completly honest I can't say one manufacturer of paint is better than another in all aspects. As I stated above they all have great products depending what you are painting......

Thank you all for your tips - I think last year I painted in weather that was too hot as large portions just peeled off this year. BTW any recommendations for wood stains, particularly for railings and stairs?
