I think since you're just visiting it's more likely that someone would want to do a longer appt or overnight since they may not have another chance to see you any time soon. It's rare that I get a request for an overnight from someone I have never met, but it does happen once in a while. It could be that a gentlemen rarely gets the opportunity and knows he tends to really enjoy a longer engagement, may not have time to do a shorter appointment beforehand, and perhaps has thoroughly researched you and read reviews and feels you'd be a good fit. I'd do as travellor suggested and ask for references.

'missed' overnighters would really mess up a visitor's plans with respect to lost income, so i think you have good reason to be suspicious. references and confirmation of the identity of the person making the booking, as travellor suggests, would eliminate the false bookers. a real overnight dater is probably ok with advanced screening techniques
I have been an overnight specialist for years. On several occasions took company along on many business trips. But generally I stayed with the same person for a few years and it was more of an affair than a SP arrangement. However did have the odd blind date show up that worked out extremely well but only on the recommendation of another SP that I had to overnighted with. I can recommend them.however it's often a lot of cash for not an off a lot of action. Many people need to sleep and work the next day. So I would suspect that you're finding a lot of guys just kind of want to work something out and have a very comfortable evening.

I don't know about this... I now punt exclusively overseas, and EVERY punt is an overnighter.
