For your information:

I only borrowed from ONE person. Not more than one. Just one.
I borrowed 500 dollars, and 500 dollars only. Everyone is making it sound like I owe much more than that, when I don't.
I gave collateral. The agreement was she'd pawn what I gave her to get the money back if I didn't pay her back by December. I was homeless from December - March. I didn't have the means to pay her back. But she had the means to get the money back. I gave her a bunch of my gold jewelry with diamonds and such. She could have pawned it, but she hasn't.. instead, she's been complaining she hasn't got the money back. I don't have the means to pay her back right now. Yes, I'm an sp, but I don't get alot of clients.. and when I do get work, all my money goes to my expenses.. if I had extra, I would pay her back.. but she has the means to get the money back! You guys all make it sound like I borrowed the money with no collateral.. but I didn't! She could get all the money back if she wanted, but she's choosing not to! There's nothing I can do about that.. Yes, I should have paid her back by december of last year, but I had no home, no money, no nothing, at the time. I had lost my job, and was hopping from couch to couch.
I don't know what else to say.. except she has my collateral.. and I'm basically saying it's okay to pawn it to regain the 500 dollars I borrowed.. but that was already the agreement when i borrowed it.

Depends on what and how much you gave her.....The pawn shops in Vancouver can rip you off just like that....All they say is...Who the fuck buys gold anymore? and your screwed...

And not to put you down Sarah...But usually the collateral is for you and normal procedures are for YOU to pay her back. Majority of the time the collateral don't equal the loan that has been given out.

Let's clarify a few points here:

1. It may be "only 500 dollars" to you, but for someone like me who works 40 hours a week at a day job, I know how hard I have to work to earn $500 in the real world. I also know how much money that $500 could have been earning in my investment account over the last 14 months...

2. The collateral you gave me is not valuable "gold jewellery with diamonds and such." Not a single piece of the so-called "gold" has a karat marking on it, and the "diamond" earrings are cubic zirconium. The only reason I accepted it as collateral was because I figured it had sentimental value to you, and that you would want it back. It's absolutely useless to me in terms of recouping my losses, as I would be lucky to be able to get $25 for the whole pile. So please don't sit here and claim that I could get my money back but am choosing not to; you know that's not true.

3. The agreement we made was that you would pay me back by December 18, 2005. I have it in writing and you have a copy of it. Read it again. There is NOTHING in our agreement that stipulates that the collateral absolves you of your responsibility to pay me back. Collateral is just a security; it does not relieve you from your obligation to repay your debt.

4. You were homeless from December to March, fine. Then you should have contacted me by December 18 and let me know of your situation, instead of just ignoring my e-mails. You know I am a flexible and understanding person, and that we could have worked something out. I always found it kind of interesting that as soon as you moved to Alberta, you started ignoring my communications. It's like you intended to skip town and default all along.

Forgive me but i thought all SP were loaded , how could you gals not be making money (meaning a profit ) the hrly rates out there are more than my accountant. Am I missing something here. I have no interest in taking sides here, but if it over 14 months that is like $35 per month and the debt would have been paid. Instead of both of you bitching about it on this board. afterall can't we just get along

"Cocaine's a hell of a drug"

Seriously though: even though their hourly rate is great, they don't (can't!) work 40-hour weeks like us regular schmoes do.

Having said that, I think an SP who has her act together can make good coin, maintain a nice lifestyle, and easily "retire" early.

no, not all SP are loaded. that is quite the assumption. I know SP's that JUST make enough to scrape by. not all of us make alot of money.. especially if we don't get many clients.

yes, our hourly rate is more than an accountant, but accountants work more hours.

I just got back into the business 3 weeks ago.. before that.. I was unemployed and about to have my power shut off, among other things..
so, I'm not exactly rolling in it.

Nope....

And you know why!

Point taken
what i was saying was not for Jodie to accept that but rather that
Babybelle could more than afford to payback at that rate if she was seriuos about saving and working toward eliminating this scourge on her reputation
It is not a daunting task if she had put that much away until a sizeable sum was reached
